Job Description

 The Chief Stewards primary responsibility is to coordinate with the Chef’s Department to be sure each department has the required equipment and steward staffing needed for daily operations. In addition to staffing, the Chief Steward will be responsible for overseeing and managing the upkeep and care of all cooking ware  and  washing equipment for the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support strategic planning - long term development operational, financial and service goals of Stewarding
  • Enhance services and standards for Stewarding
  • Accountability for day to day P&L in Stewarding
  • Anticipate future guest trends and align services offered in Stewarding
  • To act as a key spokesperson for Stewarding in order to achieve Hotel vision - build and enhance positive brand image -- with internal and external guests
  • Develop innovative solutions to enhance communication of guest - service information
  • Trouble shooting in complex service situations
  • To oversee the facilitation of the Guest experience to exceed the expectation of a luxury hotel
  • Plan and prepare with team for guest events and coordinate unique requirements, to meet the guests needs
  • Identify, customize and deliver individual guest requirements.
  • Ensure a sanitary environment is provided and maintained at all times
  • Oversee, build and nurture strong relationships with employee
  • Promote the building of strong relationships with guests and employees through sincere communication and demonstrating a genuine desire to serve
  • Ensure the safety of the employees by providing proper equipment/material and educating staff for proper chemical usage
Requirements
  • High school diploma and a college degree in hotel or business administration are required.
  • Extensive experience in similar 5 star/5 Diamond establishment
  • Ability to coordinate complex inventorying of equipment and maintain pars based on budgetary guidelines
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language (s) used in the workplace
  • Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Hotel or Industry - legislation: Health - Safety, licensing; employment law
  • Knowledge of Food Service techniques and cost controls such as labor, productivity, food cost and other expenses
