Job Summary

The Multicultural Affairs, Social Impact, & Business Councils team is part of the Global Communications and Public Affairs function at Marriott International and is responsible for social responsibility, volunteerism, external stakeholder engagement and a portfolio of initiatives and partnerships which aim to connect our business with communities to drive positive social outcomes and business value. Additionally, this team leads Marriott’s multicultural affairs, cultural competency programs, Business Councils and individuals committed to preserving the history of the Company through the Company’s Archives. 

The Coordinator, Multicultural Affairs, Social Impact, & Business Councils reports to the Senior Manager, Multicultural Affairs, providing project, programmatic, and some administrative support for the Multicultural Affairs, Social Impact, & Business Councils team leadership and teams.     

Expected Contributions

This

Entry Level, Administrative

role is the primary support across the Multicultural Affairs, Social Impact, & Business Councils Department. As such, the coordinator will be assisting team members with their efforts to implement initiatives, programs, and partnerships to connect the business. 
  • Manage incoming requests for corporate contributions support, including executive referrals. Evaluate, make recommendations to team leaders, and handle external communications responses.
  • Support corporate-led disaster response efforts and activations, including administration of Marriott’s Disaster Relief Fund contributions, recognition and disbursements.  Research and benchmark other company and partner responses to inform corporate engagement strategy.
  • Collaborate with volunteerism team to manage and execute projects for annual days of service and volunteer engagement globally.
  • Manage program development for a subset of non-profit partnerships, including aligning with partners to define objectives and expectations of the relationship, in partnership with Social Impact and Multicultural Affairs team members. 
  • Support the Business Councils team with updating council information, creating webinar materials and executing Business Councils Initiatives.
  • Prepare aggregated contributions data, social impact activities and visual assets in support of stakeholder requests and for inclusion in company surveys and reports. 
  • Manage the corporate contributions program budget, including executing payments and reporting, in coordination with Social Impact and Multicultural Affairs team. 
  • Monitor accounts payable for the Social Impact and Multicultural Affairs teams ensuring timely submission to finance team and payments to vendors.
  • Develop joint team updates for department and company executive leadership using Microsoft Office products by partnering with team leaders.
  • Provide support to the Senior Vice President, Multicultural Affairs, Social Impact, & Business Councils, including planning and scheduling travel arrangements, reserving hotel accommodations, processing expense reports, scheduling meetings, developing and drafting presentations, agendas, memos, letters, spreadsheets, and other business documents.  Assist in other administrative duties as needed for the leaders of the Social Impact, Multicultural Affairs & Business Councils team.
  • Maintain team calendar and coordinate, schedule, and prepare the team for general internal & external meetings, including scheduling venues and accompanying meeting needs. Document key meeting notes from team meetings for future use and record keeping.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess the knowledge, skills, and experience as follows:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in social impact, diversity, equity and inclusion, administrative, communications or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including demonstrated expertise in Outlook (managing calendar), PowerPoint (visual presentations), and Excel (budget management). 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; high degree of professionalism; polished presence.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through on tasks to completion.
  • Ability to work well under pressure; anticipate, set and adapt to continually changing workload priorities; and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and participate in the logistics and management of special events and volunteer projects.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and documents; flexibility for limited travel or overtime when needed.
