Summary

The top priority of the Inventory Clerk is to receive, store, issue merchandise, and enter data to maintain an efficient and productive store for all retail locations including Gift Shop, Extra’s and Golf Shop. Moving from one location to another on a daily basis is a must.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Receive and price merchandise, enter into inventory system and monitor inventory levels.
  • Inspect merchandise upon receipt from vendor/shipper to verify that merchandise is in satisfactory condition.
  • Creating and entering new items accurately into the inventory system.
  • Help management with the upkeep of items in the inventory system.
  • Responsible for stocking stores displays as needed for Gift Shop, Extras and Golf Shop.
  • Ensure stockrooms are kept organized & items are easily located.
  • Knowledgeable of all store merchandise and its proper location all in Retail locations (Gift Shop, Extras and Golf Shop)
  • Assist in periodic, special and/or perpetual inventory of store.
  • Answer questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
  • Adequately and independently evaluate factors affecting the quality of vendor products.
  • Work closely with the accounting office on account receivable and accounts payable issues.
  • Participate in in-store training or product knowledge seminars.
  • Distinguish between clean and dirty surfaces, packaging, etc.
  • Foster collaboration both with members of work team and with colleagues.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the store by re-shelving merchandise, dusting, vacuuming, etc. as needed.
  • Collaborate and resolves issues that may arise as a result of audits.
  • On occasion, in the absence of a Gift Shop Clerk, may be required to operate cash register, assist guests, total guests’ purchases and accurately balance cash drawer.
  • May be required to assist other departments within the division.
  • Maintain flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed.
  • Incorporate safe work practices.
  • Maintain a professional appearance reflective of the hotel image and conduct behavior in a mature and professional manner.
  • Must have flexible hours. Required work schedule may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Demonstrate a guest service attitude.
  • Highly motivated, self-motivated, energetic and quality oriented individual.
  • Ability to remain calm and poised under pressure.
  • Must be a team player but be able to work well independently.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or minimum of 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite. Must have knowledge of inventory management.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical

Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
