Job Summary

Marriott operates and franchises hotels and licenses vacation ownership resorts and branded residential properties. Marriott’s Law Department services the Company's lodging and hospitality business and provides legal advice and counsel to Marriott’s internal clients. 

This paralegal position is part of the Consumer Operations, Global Services and U.S./Canada Lodging practice group (“Group”) of the Law Department and will report to the Group’s Vice President & Senior Counsel, Brand, Marketing, and Consumer Experience.  The role will primarily focus on Global Brand and Marketing, including partnerships, advertising content, consumer experiences, and related contracts. 

Specific Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of this position will be: 

• Provide direct support to the attorneys and assist other members of the Group in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
• Draft documents, using standard forms and templates, prepare initial draft responses and documents for attorney review and facilitate full execution of documents and ensure executed originals are returned and filed appropriately.
• Communicate directly with leaders and representatives of Global Brand and Marketing teams regarding brand and marketing legal issues directing their questions appropriately.
• Review and revise marketing advertising and materials (copy, terms and conditions, imagery, etc.) for legal compliance and communicate with attorneys and business teams regarding potential revisions. 
• Prepare draft contracts for review and review and draft revisions for incoming contracts, provide guidance to business regarding contract negotiations, and coordinate the finalization and execution of the documents.
• Review draft agency, consultant, and influencer master services agreements, statements of work, and amendments coordinating the finalization and execution of the documents with attorneys and business teams.
• In consultation with attorney, provide guidance to business teams regarding contest and sweepstakes, and identify and review related rules with them.     
• Identify, review, and escalate trademark/copyright and other IP issues as appropriate. Manage the review and resolution process by tracking and reporting on the status of IP matters to clients and partner with IP Practice Area on resolution. 
• Work directly with Law department Practice Area leaders and Marriott business leaders.
• Update and maintain Law department database(s) to reflect executed transactions for the practice area.
• Undertake special assignments, including research, review, and analysis of contract documentation and other issues.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess experience as follows:

Required:

• Four year college degree and
• Minimum relevant work experience of six years.

Or

• Two year college degree and
• Relevant work experience of ten years 

Or

• At least 20 years of relevant work experience as a paralegal. 

Has substantive subject matter paralegal experience; Paralegal Certificate preferred but not required.
