Job Summary

The mission of the Global Safety & Security (GSS) organization is to minimize controllable losses by providing Marriott Lodging with technical expertise and training resources in the areas of safety and security management, leading to an environment free from harm for our guests and associates.  As a subgroup within the GSS organization, the Department of Investigation’s mission is to investigate all allegations of serious misconduct, threats and criminal activity committed by associates, guests and others, in order to ensure and safeguard the assets and protect the reputation of the company.  The department's focus places a strong emphasis on financial and economic crime and the protection of individuals using the latest technology and techniques.
This position serves as the Investigative Support Specialist to the Department of Investigations. The Investigative Analyst is involved in collecting, evaluating, analyzing reports and information in the areas of internal company systems, programs and social media to minimize risk and litigation while protecting the reputation and assets of the company.  As a key member of the team, he/she will provide critical information that will facilitate the effective handling of sensitive matters.  

Expected Contributions

  • Conduct investigative analysis and/or lead projects to include reviews of company related proprietary systems including email, documents, statements, programs that are pertinent to the issue at hand.
  • Provide analytical data and comprehensive reports in support of investigations for cases involving theft, fraud, threats, workplace violence, human trafficking, narcotics, and malfeasance. He/she will prepare reports that will enable the Investigator to quickly spot trends, potential threats, vulnerabilities, and risks across multiple disciplines.
  • Provide periodical Riskonnect reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to key stakeholders to include senior management.
  • Manage and maintain the overall development of the Riskonnect platform to adapt and improve efficiencies.
  • Monitor websites and social media sites for information related to the company’s reputation, and the unauthorized use of proprietary information, products, incentives, and benefits.
  • Conduct advanced research and produce a comprehensive report in support of Investigative efforts using proprietary and open-source platforms such as TLO, Everbridge, Factal, to assess issues of importance or present findings to other key stakeholders.
  • Mandatory overnight travel on demand with short to no notice for several days at a time to assist with investigative operations.
  • Work with the Law department on preservation of evidence and electronic discovery.
  • Maintain knowledge of complex industry trends, geopolitical risk, civil unrest, current security issues and technology, and update key business partners on risk and threats that could impact company business.
  • Provide creative and effective solutions to support business needs and mitigate risk.
  • Conduct briefings and debriefings as required.
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with all business units, as well as with various levels of law enforcement agencies as necessary.
  • Conduct due diligence on individuals, groups, and companies in an effort to minimize fraud and manage risk.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, security studies, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in corporate security, intelligence, or security information analysis
  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of fact-finding analysis and skill application to interpret and identify informational intelligence
  • Knowledge of sources of information and the methods and techniques used to extract, analyze and target informational and criminal intelligence.
  • Strong knowledge of the Internet, corporate intranets, web applications and content management systems
  • Knowledge of emerging data mining technologies and strategies
  • Experience with tools, techniques and practices for protecting the integrity of corporate data.
  • Independence and ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent writing, communication and public speaking skills.
  • Creative thinker, detail oriented, self-motivated, and superior initiative.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data.
  • Broad knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office to include Power BI, PowerPoint, Excel, 
  • Ability to promote and foster a team-oriented environment.
