Practice Hospitality is seeking an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Manager to join the team at The Mining Exchange Hotel.

Job Role

We’re looking for the right person to join this story, and make some history with us. As and HR Manager, you manage and ensure the efficient administration of the Human Resources function to include recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements and the execution of employee relations activities in order to provide each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their customer service and business objectives. Accountable for ensuring a proactive human resources environment consistent with profitability objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all team member relations. This entails promoting positive team member relations and ensures the Open Door policy is communicated and managed effectively.
  • Provides assistance, guidance and counseling to the General Manager, management staff and the line team members in order to maximize the quality and professionalism of the hotel staff by listening and interpreting concerns and objectives and seeking solutions.
  • Implements and administers policies and programs related to the management of all hotel personnel.
  • Monitors for fair and consistent practices.
  • Instructs the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques using methods such as verbal presentations and written directions to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient team members.
  • Conducts initial interviews for all positions.
  • Analyzes recruitment sources and meets with external agencies to ensure Affirmative Action compliance.
  • Ensures applicant tracking is up to date and within the company’s required guidelines.
  • Monitors team member development and utilization to their maximum potential by controlling the implementation, administration and monitoring of all training programs.
  • Facilitates training classes, analyzes and reviews current and proposed methods, consults with and makes recommendations to the management staff for improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations and court rulings, which pertain to Human Resources by reviewing current management practices. Implements new procedures and communicates verbally and in writing any new requirements.
  • Supervises the compliance of the hotel’s Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Manages the hotels’ payroll, wage and benefits programs. Controls the administration of wages and benefits to ensure the accurate and equitable application of same, analyzing and applying information retrieved from moderately complex reports, manuals and/or computer systems.
  • Reviews and appraises all personnel changes and paperwork for merit and accuracy.
  • Approves all required Human Resources forms such as Personnel Authorization Forms (PAFs) and employment requisitions.
  • Prepares annual human resources budget, approves expenditures and ensures budget is met. Ensures the human resources department provides a high level of service to management and team members.

Requirements

  • Five years combined general human resources and supervisory/management experience. Prior hotel experience preferred. Experience within a similarly sized operation is desirable. 4 year college degree preferred
  • Ability to deal effectively with all team members and employee representatives, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Thorough knowledge of human resources practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to human resources matters
  • Visual ability to observe team members in the workplace, analyze operations and detect situations of concern with regard to areas such as employee performance, grooming, training, policy adherence and morale.  

Job Type: FLSA Designation: Full Time-Exempt

Compensation range: $75k to $85k
