Laundry Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION: The Laundry Department Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the hotel’s laundry services, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and efficiency in handling linens, terry, tablecloths, cloth napkins, and robes. This role involves managing staff, maintaining equipment, and implementing best practices to ensure quality and timely service.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in laundry operations, preferably in a hospitality setting.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

• Knowledge of laundry equipment and chemicals, including safety handling procedures.

• Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physically demanding tasks.

• Strong communication skills and a customer service-oriented mindset.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of laundry staff, including training of new staff.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, as well as hotel policies and procedures.

• Monitor laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and folding.

• Maintain inventory of laundry supplies and equipment; to be provided to Housekeeping Manager for ordering

• Conduct regular inspections of laundry equipment to ensure proper functioning and report need for repair or maintenance.

• Collaborate with housekeeping and other departments to ensure seamless service and communication.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

• Address and resolve any issues or complaints related to laundry services promptly and professionally

• Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

• Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

• Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.

• Perform other related duties as requested by the Housekeeping Supervisor, or Housekeeping Manager.

ENVIRONMENT: Indoor work with hard and carpeted surfaces. Occasional outdoor work. Good ventilation with artificial lighting.
