The historic Arizona Biltmore is looking for an Director of Stewarding to join the Food and Beverage Team!

Located in the heart of the prestigious Biltmore neighborhood in Phoenix since 1929, this gorgeous 39-acre property reopened in May 2021 after undergoing a $100 million renovation. This iconic hotel has over 700 rooms, over 200,000 square feet in banquet space, and 8 food and beverage outlets (including 2 restaurants, 2 pools, 2 bars, a gelato shop/café, and in-room dining).

In this role, you will oversee all stewarding operations managing a team of 25 to include an Assistant Executive Steward and reporting directly to the Executive Chef. 

The ideal candidate will be a charismatic leader with excellent organizational skills, a passion for training and developing others, and a talent for building comradery. At least 3-5 years of stewarding management experience in a high-volume hotel is required. Luxury hotel experience is a plus.

What will I be doing?

As a Director of Stewarding, you will be responsible for directing all aspects of the stewarding department in order to maintain a sanitary food & beverage environment, maintain adequate inventory levels of china, glass, and silver required to service guests within the food & beverage operation, maintain budgetary guidelines., and provide direct leadership & development to the stewarding leadership team.  

  • Manage all stewarding operations to include, but not limited to, inventory management, maintenance of sanitation and cleanliness standards, systems management, budget and forecasting, health inspections, safety initiatives, , report generation, department management, meeting participation and facilitation, implementation of policies and procedures, cost controls and overall profitability
  • Lead staff in daily coordination and distribution of big four items: china, glassware, linen and silver
  • Oversee equipment storage and distribution according to established standards
  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counselling and evaluations and delivering recognition and rewards
  • Recruit, interview and train team members
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards and prepare for health inspections

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  • Perform general/routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standard
  • Assure that ample cleaning supplies and warewash detergents are on hand. These costs can not exceed monthly forecast budgets.
