Lead Steward

The Opportunity 

Delaware North Sportservice is searching for experienced part-time Lead Stewards to join our team at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. As a Lead Steward you will be a visible leader in the kitchen, working with the team to deliver food to quality standards, monitor the quantities, labor, and overhead costs. Responsibilities 

• Supervise dishwashers and coordinate breaks.
• Train new and existing associates.
• Handle disciplinary matters.
• Ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of chinaware, glassware, and silverware to different locations.
• Ensure clean pots, pans, and other cooking containers and utensils are ready and available when needed.
• Respond to all requests in an efficient and timely manner.
• Maintain coolers, freezers in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Report all maintenance issues to the Executive Steward.
• Keep work area and equipment neat and clean all the time.
• Adhere to and enforce inventory and labor control measures; perform inventory counts as requested.

Qualifications 

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Previous experience in a Steward/Dishwasher position required.
• Previous experience in a supervisory role required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Basic math skills for counting inventory.
• Ability to follow job procedures and supervisor instructions.

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to lift and carry large pans from ovens or freezers, weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to handle or operate dangerous kitchen equipment.
• Standing and walking for entire length of shift.
• Frequently required to reach up to 6-7 feet, twist at waist, bending and squatting
• Pushing and pulling occasionally, to move equipment, mops, and brooms.
• Kitchen environment – noise levels may be moderate-to-high.
• Works frequently in a hot and damp environment.
