Description

The Manager, Engineering – India reports to the Senior Director, Engineering and is part of the Architecture, Design & Construction (AD&C) team in India who collectively makes key strategic decisions for Managed and Franchised development projects for all brands. You are responsible for providing MEP & FLS  (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire & Life Safety) engineering support from project inception to hotel opening. You will cover the India region and be responsible for focus-service, full-service, lifestyle, and luxury hotel projects across all Hilton brands.

What will I be doing? 

As the Manager, Engineering – India, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Work with Hilton’s AD&C team to provide a review of MEP & FLS design documents for hotel projects for assigned areas within the India region.
  • Assist Project Managers in meeting engineering requirements initiated by the current Property Improvement Plan (PIP) for existing hotels, proposed hotel conversions, and proposed adaptive reuse properties.
  • Review 50% and 100% Engineering CD (Construction Document) for all MEP & FLS systems for compliance with Brand Standards and good design practice. Verify that comments from the engineering design reviews have been incorporated in the final CDs before the construction starts. 
  • Assist the AD&C team and guide the incorporation of ESG (Environmental and Sustainability Governance) and Energy and Water Efficiency strategies in the project design.
  • Review primary construction submittals and shop drawings in detail to ensure compliance with Hilton standards and prototype drawings.
  • Participate proactively in VE (Value Engineering) coordination and review to ensure project efficient and cost-effective construction practices while meeting Brand Standard requirements and best industry practices.
  • Visit projects (as needed) during construction to ensure compliance with the submitted and approved plans and CDs. Address concerns immediately, in person, while at the site, and provide detailed written correspondence following the site visit.
  • Continuously review engineering requirements and changes in the Brand Standards and provide recommendations for updates and changes to adapt to best industry practices and regional particularities.

A Manager, Engineering – India serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:

  • Professional Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering subject area, trade degree in a specific technical field relating to building Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 7-10 years of experience in the design and construction administration of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Electrical systems.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of hospitality experience is preferred, including lead design roles in new construction and renovation projects.
  • Experience and knowledge of sustainable design, energy efficiency, and operations principles.
  • Proven leadership skills, strong work/ethic, adaptability, and flexibility.
  • Ability to direct collaborative efforts of resources throughout the Hilton organization, including internal resources, external resources, and other constituent groups as appropriate with the aim of furthering Company goals.
  • Ability to lead change, resolve issues, and ensure collaboration within teams and/or units, including maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity.
  • Ability to take the initiative to identify, prioritize, and implement all elements required for the team to fulfill responsibilities in keeping with core strategic goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to optimally address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate.
  • Proficient in English and Hindi, both verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
