🦜 Assistant Aviculturist: Wildlife, Education & Luxury

Pay Rate: $20.00 / hour | Status: Full-Time, Hourly

The Mission

Do you have a passion for exotic animals and a heart for hospitality? As our Assistant Aviculturist, you aren't just a caretaker; you are an ambassador for some of the resort’s most unique residents. From majestic exotic birds to ancient tortoises, you will ensure our animals thrive while creating "wow" moments for guests. Whether you’re conducting an educational session or ensuring a pristine habitat, you are a vital part of the Horseshoe Bay Resort experience.

What You’ll Do (A Day in the Life)

  • Expert Animal Care: Assist with all aspects of daily care, focusing on the health and stability of our exotic birds and tortoises.
  • Habitat Excellence: Maintain sparkling clean cages and habitats, proactively identifying and eliminating any hazards.
  • Nutrition Specialist: Prepare and deliver proper daily feedings to ensure all animals receive their specific dietary needs.
  • Wildlife Ambassador: Lead engaging educational experiences and interact with guests and club members with a friendly, professional demeanor.
  • Dynamic Schedule: Work a varied schedule throughout the year, including weekends and holidays.

Who You Are

  • The Animal Advocate: You have a genuine love for wildlife and a preferred experience as a Veterinary Tech or in a similar clinical/care setting.
  • The Natural Educator: You love "taking the stage" to relay fascinating information to resort guests.
  • The Reliable Teammate: You have reliable transportation and can work independently while maintaining a sense of TEAM.
  • The Professional: You maintain a neat, clean appearance and represent the resort’s luxury standards at all times.

The Requirements

  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Logistics: Reliable transportation is required for this position.
  • Physical Stamina: You must be able to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods while working on uneven surfaces.
  • Strength: Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral communication skills, especially when interacting with members and guests.
