This position calls for a creative, outgoing, forward-thinking, and organized individual. The Social Media Strategist is responsible for managing the Grand Casino social channels and creating a social strategy that aligns with brand strategy and tone while communicating with followers. This role is also responsible for creating, capturing, and posting content, managing the creation of content calendars, influencer coordination, live social coverage of events, and crafting monthly performance reports. Applicants must be able to work a Tuesday–Saturday schedule as the standard workweek, with flexibility to work Sundays or Mondays as programming requires. This role also requires availability for nights, weekends, and business-critical holidays such as New Year's Eve, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. This is not a traditional Monday–Friday position and is best suited for someone who enjoys being part of the action and creating engaging content for live events, promotions, and entertainment.
The position will handle daily management of Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc., and build brand loyalty by delivering interactive, organic content and encouraging engagement via likes, comments, reshares, and tags. In addition, the Social Media Strategist will assist with property digital efforts, including property signage, email, website, mobile app, and more.
What You Get to Do
- Manage Grand Casino social pages and profiles, including social monitoring outside traditional work hours.
- Build and execute our social media strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.
- Write, develop, and strategize online content production and scheduling.
- Generate, edit, publish, and share content that drives and maximizes daily positive engagement.
- Assist with crisis management and communications by working closely with necessary departments (risk, security, public relations, etc.).
- Build meaningful connections and encourage loyalty through proper dialogue and messaging.
- Moderate user-generated content and messages in accordance with company and community policies.
- Create and implement a social media marketing plan and content calendar.
- Collaborate with other departments to manage company reputation, coordinate promotions, and increase consumer reach.
- Track and analyze analytics reports to gain insight into traffic, demographics, and effectiveness; utilize this information to positively affect future outcomes.
- Develop and create monthly reporting to be shared with internal team members, to include analytics and competitor research.
- Works with departments to answer all questions/issues on social channels in a clear and timely manner, and to ensure accurate promotion of department/property content and information.
- Develop and enforce social media guidelines and/or best practices to be shared internally.
- Stay current with social media trends and best practices.
- Writing, developing, recording, and editing videos for use online.
- Be a featured face in the content! Represent Grand Casino on social channels through on-camera video features.
- Assists in performing regular updates to Grand Casino website.
- Assist in the creation and scheduling of digital assets and signage, as necessary.
- Assist in developing interactive email content to be sent to the consumer database.

What Qualifies You
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED, or ability to pass basic skills assessment.)
- Or successful completion of a related company-approved developmental placement program.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, or a related field. Or comparable years of experience in digital marketing and social media.
- Strong familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Two (2) years of documented experience and demonstrated ability leading social media programs for a company that uses this media extensively are required.
- Two (2) years of demonstrated ability in developing and implementing social strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives required.
- Two (2) years of knowledge of and fluency in PowerPoint, Sprout Social (or another social management tool), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Canva Pro, and Adobe Product Suite preferred.
- Understanding of social media metrics; able to interpret the results and take action to increase the effectiveness of social media campaigns, preferred.
- Must be able to secure a license from the Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
- Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
