This is your chance to be a part of an in-house Technology team that’s creating consumer-facing, the latest technologies revolutionizing the hospitality industry around the world! As a Lead Infrastructure Platform Engineer, you will bring your technical skills to our company with an award-winning culture. On the Cloud Platform Architecture team reporting to the Senior Manager of Cloud Platform Architecture, you will support projects from smartphone capabilities like Digital Key to Hilton Connected Room that allow for integrated entertainment, temperature, and lighting controls, Hilton’s Global Technology team. Through innovative technology development and deployment, this team ensures Hilton has the technology needed to support our continued global growth while remaining at the forefront of hospitality technology innovation.

Requirements

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.

What your day-to-day will be like:

  • Manage large scalable AWS software environments
  • Work on AWS public cloud to create customer-focused solutions by developing and deploying resources using Terraform templates
  • Automate routine operational tasks by following the preset engineering standards
  • Develop and deploy CI/CD pipelines using deployment tools like Bamboo and GitLab
  • Perform Linux system administration tasks and fix L3 Linux operating system issues
  • Build custom operating system images with tools such as Hashicorp Packer and Ansible
  • Build and maintain monitoring and metrics tools such as Datadog / Dynatrace / Splunk to improve monitoring and alerting capabilities of the Applications hosted in AWS public cloud
  • Build custom dashboards in Splunk which helps management make quick decisions
  • Review the entire architecture and identify the gaps and potential solutions across the entire cloud environment

How you will collaborate with others:

  • Consult with Infrastructure and Application teams across the enterprise to ensure the accurate architectures are in place for teams migrating to the cloud
  • Work with Change Management to roll out impact changes to the cloud hosted applications

What projects you will take ownership of:

  • Develop and deploy custom solutions confirming Infrastructure as Code standards in public cloud environments
  • Architecting new standards for Hilton’s public cloud
  • Conduct Proof of Concept on potential new technologies and document the findings

WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT

You have these minimum qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in Technology or a related field
  • Four (4) years of software/platform design and implementation experience
  • Four (4) years of public cloud experience
  • Solid experience with Linux/Unix administration
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible
  • Hands-on operational experience with high transactional volumes hosted in public cloud environments such as AWS
  • Willing and open to travel up to 25%

It would be useful if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 6 years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12 years of Technology related experience 
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in Technology or a related field
  • Six (6) years of experience managing large scalable AWS software environments
  • Experience with setting up deployment pipelines using any CI/CD tools
  • Experience with Datadog monitoring tool including setting up new monitors and dashboards
  • Experience using Splunk tool including writing Splunk queries and developing dashboards
