The Opportunity 

Delaware North is searching for a Data Support Engineer to join our Data Engineering team in Buffalo, New York. The Data Engineering team is tasked with collecting raw data from our various systems, transforming that data into canonical models, harmonizing, and enhancing the data to provide trusted datasets to our consumers. The work this team does is the foundation of company initiatives meant to automate business processes, gather insights, and make more informed decisions. The Support Engineer provide level 3 support and will work closely with Data Engineering and the business with a focus on the Delaware North Data Analytics Platform. 

Pay

Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Base Salary: $66500 - $89900 / year

In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Only in special circumstances, where a candidate has education, training, or experience that far exceeds the requirements for the position, would we consider paying higher than the stated range. Responsibilities 

  • Triage and resolve support issues for the data platform and supporting systems
  • Assist clients, vendors, and internal users of the data platform on access, understanding the data, tech support concerns and challenges
  • Assess customer needs, identify challenges and issues, recommend solutions
  • Author documentation relating to standard operating procedures, run-books, and other support materials
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to execute projects
  • Automate manual tasks and create/improve tools and processes that help make team operations more efficiently
  • Receive and respond to inbound incident request from clients, and internal and external users
  • Provide ad hoc feedback about trends and new issues
  • Aid higher tier engineering staff with problem research and documentation

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar STEM field preferred (or 2 years of professional experience in a technical support role)
  • Experience in SQL and Query writing
  • Working knowledge of data access patterns (flat-file, API, SQL, Webhook, Data Streams, etc)
  • Working knowledge of data structures and formats such as JSON and XML
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and track issues through to resolution
  • Passion for delivering high quality and meaningful results
  • Python experience is a nice to have
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
