In 1872, Yellowstone became the world's first national park. The park spans an area of over 2.2 million acres and is made up of lakes, canyons, rivers and mountain ranges. Yellowstone is world renowned for its fishing and photography opportunities. The park is known for its abundant wildlife and over 10,000 geothermal areas, especially Old Faithful Geyser, one of its most popular features. Each year millions of visitors from all over the world come to Yellowstone to enjoy and explore.
Whether seasonal or full-time, you'll discover the magic of one of the most extraordinary, and remote, places one earth. Yellowstone is a place for year round adventure and unique experiences. Living in such wilderness offers endless opportunities to engage in recreational activities such as hiking, backpacking, or camping to name a few.
Our guests and employees come from across the country and around the world which makes working in Yellowstone a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with, and learn about, a variety of cultures. Our employees make countless personal connections and create everlasting memories for themselves and our guests.
Yellowstone is a community living environment. Community living can be a great way to bond and create lifelong friendships with others who share similar interest and values, however, it does come with some challenges. Being prepared will help with your transition. Employee housing varies by position, however, most is dormitory-style with communal bathrooms. Each dorm room accommodates 2-3 people and includes beds, wardrobes/closets and a chair and desk. Laundry facilities are included. Dormitory buildings do not have cooking facilities. You must be 18 years of age or older to live in company housing and must be actively employed by Xanterra. Pets, candles and smoking are not permitted in company housing.
Employee housing is available for couples as well. Please include your spouse's/significant other's name on your application if you are applying together. We also have RV sites with hookups for those who wish to live in their own RV or trailer. Children and pets are welcome in our RV Park.
The Employee Dining Room (EDR) serves cafeteria-style meals that include a hot entree and side dishes, sandwiches, salads, fruits, cereals and beverages. Vegetarian options are available at each meal, however, the EDR Chef and Crew are not able to accommodate all dietary needs such as vegan or allergy-related restrictions.
Although Yellowstone does have cell service and Wi-Fi access, due to its remote nature, cell reception varies throughout the park, depending on your provider and plan, and Wi-Fi may be much slower than you're accustomed to.
