Hotel Barriere Fouquet's - NYC is searching for an experienced cooks to join our talented kitchen team. In this position, you will support the Executive and Sous Chef in our kitchen, following and enforcing their requirements and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain standards of health, safety, and personal hygiene.
  • Must be able to clean and cut all basic vegetables, fruits, and other herbs and keep their section clean in all circumstances.
  • Ensure that food is prepared according to recipes and plate presentation guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards
  • Must be familiarized with all necessary menus
  • Responsible for following Company recipes at all times
  • Utilizes kitchen equipment to prepare food items such as: knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, ovens, etc
  • Ability to multitask and work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Practice conscious knowledge of food allergies and all safety procedures
  • Review prep list, check daily pars and maintain pars as necessary
  • Work closely with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to ensure that all items needed are in stock for the menu
  • Ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding temperatures
  • Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends
  • Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of food on the line
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate would have:

  • At least 2-3 years experience as a  Line Cook in a fine dining environment 
  • Certification of Food Handlers License preferred.
  • Be able to provide proof of eligible work in the US
  • Physical ability to stand for an entire shift and lift 50+ pounds.
  • Willingness to work weekends and nights.
  • Conversational proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication
