The Opportunity

The Operations Support Manager is a newly created, exempt leadership role designed to provide direct operational support to the Vice President of the Portfolio while assisting in the oversight and execution of day-to-day location functions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational excellence across the assigned business unit through hands-on support, customized operational planning, and performance improvement initiatives.

This position is developmental in nature and is intended to serve as a pipeline role for future placement as a Location Manager based on organizational need and individual performance.

  • Work closely with and support the VP, in assigned areas, in managing assigned location functions and activities. 
  • Assist in the oversight of daily operations, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and alignment with organizational standards and objectives.
  • Provide direction and guidance to location staff related to operational procedures, performance expectations, and service standards.  The Wewinabi Core Values.
  • Develop and implement customized operational plans tailored to location needs, usage, and community demand.
  • Support staffing coordination, workflow execution, and day-to-day problem resolution to maintain operational continuity.
  • Monitor operational performance, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
  • Coordinate with Field Operations Specialist, facilities and vendors to support location operations.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable regulations (state & tribal), safety requirements, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Assist associates and managers in resolving customer complaints and assessing feedback.
  • Support special projects, expansions, renovations, or operational initiatives as assigned.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors consistent with organizational values and support succession planning for future management roles

What Qualifies You

  • Minimum four  (4) years retail experience, or a two-year degree in Business and 2 years retail experience; or a bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • This position requires some travel and reliable transportation.
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

Work Environment

  • Ability to travel often to various local locations.
  • Ability to conduct physical audits, including standing for extended periods and handling inventory items.
  • Minimum 40-hour workweek required.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to support business and operational needs.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business or training needs.
  • Weekend coverage may be required during peak periods, staffing shortages, or operational disruptions.
  • Willingness to support multiple locations during high-volume periods or unforeseen operational needs.

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is an Ojibwa tribe located in Minnesota. The tribe boasts over 4,000 tribal members. Their land-base is the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation, consisting of two reservations and nine communities defined in the tribal constitution, aggregated into three districts.
