Grand Casino Mille Lacs/Hinckley

Procurement Inventory Specialist

DEPARTMENT:

Procurement

REPORTS TO:

Procurement Business Systems Manager

Own the inventory. Set the standards. Keep retail moving—across both properties.

We’re looking for an experienced Procurement Inventory Specialist to serve as the single point of accountability for retail inventory across both Mille Lacs and Hinckley properties. This role requires strong fluency in inventory management, independent buying decision-making, item creation, and par level control. You’ll set standards, make purchasing decisions for the gift shop, and ensure inventory practices are consistent, efficient, and accurate across locations. If you understand how inventory strategy impacts operations, margins, and the guest experience—and are ready to own it—this role offers meaningful influence and responsibility.

What You’ll Do

Inventory + Buying Ownership

  • Serve as the primary owner of retail inventory across both Mille Lacs and Hinckley properties
  • Establish, manage, and adjust par levels for retail inventory to support sales volume, seasonality, space constraints, and operational efficiency.
  • Make buying decisions for gift shop inventory, operating within approved budgets and vendor frameworks
  • Analyze inventory, sales, and usage trends to determine appropriate purchasing strategies and replenishment plans

Item Creation & System Integrity

  • Create, maintain, and govern item records, including vendor assignments, pricing, pack sizes, reorder points, and inventory attributes
  • Ensure item setup and inventory data are accurate, standardized, and consistently applied across both properties
  • Monitor item cost changes and assess impact on retail operations

Standardization & Process Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and standardize inventory and buying practices across both properties to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance
  • Develop and maintain clear procedures for item setup, ordering, replenishment, and inventory control
  • Identify process gaps or inefficiencies and implement improvements to support operational goals
  • Act as the subject-matter expert for retail inventory systems and buying processes

Cross-Functional & Vendor Collaboration

  • Partner with Retail leadership, Receiving, Finance, and Procurement to ensure inventory accuracy and alignment
  • Communicate directly with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Validate invoices and resolve discrepancies in coordination with Accounts Payable and Receiving

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Train and support retail staff on inventory practices, par level management, and system usage
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, reduce shrink or overstock, and increase operational efficiency
  • Support cycle counts, physical inventories, audits, and compliance requirements
  • Assess inventory-related risks and take proactive steps to minimize financial exposure, shrink, and operational disruption

You’ll Thrive If You

  • Are fluent in inventory management, buying workflows, and par level strategy
  • Are comfortable making independent decisions with financial and operational impact
  • Enjoy owning outcomes—not just tasks
  • Can balance detail-level accuracy with big-picture inventory health
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with leaders, vendors, and team members
  • Take pride in setting standards and helping others succeed
  • Enjoy working across locations and building consistency
  • Can manage multiple priorities across locations without losing attention to detail

What You’ll Get

Growth + Support

  • Competitive salaried compensation aligned with responsibility and expertise
  • Comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision)
  • 401(k) with employer match and tuition reimbursement
  • PTO, holiday pay, and recognition for milestones

Culture + Legacy

  • A workplace grounded in the seven values: Wisdom, Love, Respect, Truth, Humility, Bravery, and Honesty
  • Leadership that values accuracy, accountability, and operational excellence
  • Purpose-driven work that supports strong retail operations across properties

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in business, supply chain, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in inventory management, buying, or retail operations
  • Demonstrated experience with independent buying decisions and par level management
  • Strong experience with item creation and inventory system governance
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory and sales data
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Must be able to secure and maintain a license from the Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA)
  • Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs)
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process

Work Requirements and Environment

This role operates in a structured professional environment with frequent interaction across departments, properties, and vendors. Work includes computer-based inventory and purchasing tasks, data analysis, and communication via email and phone. Occasional movement between offices or storage areas may be required to support inventory verification. The schedule is predictable and supports consistent cross-property collaboration.
