The Mining Exchange Hotel, a Practice Hospitality property, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Housekeeping Inspector to join our team. Located in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs, The Mining Exchange Hotel is known for delivering elevated guest experiences in a historic and inspiring setting.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards and is ready to grow their leadership skills within the Housekeeping department. The Housekeeping Inspector plays a key role in the daily operation by opening the shift, assigning rooms, inspecting for quality, and closing the day to ensure all work meets Practice Hospitality and Mining Exchange Hotel standards of excellence.

About The Hotel

Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces, and guestrooms are all newly renovated.

Job Role

The Housekeeping Inspector is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, orderliness, and overall presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet Practice Hospitality’s standards of excellence. This role supports the Housekeeping leadership team by inspecting rooms, coaching Room Attendants, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily opening duties, including reviewing arrivals, departures, VIP rooms, and priority assignments.

  • Assign guest rooms and boards to Room Attendants based on occupancy, staffing levels, and operational needs.

  • Inspect guest rooms after cleaning to ensure compliance with Practice Hospitality cleanliness and presentation standards.

  • Ensure guest rooms are properly stocked with linens, amenities, and supplies.

  • Identify and report maintenance issues using the designated work order system.

  • Ensure housekeeping carts, closets, and storage areas are clean, organized, and properly stocked.

  • Monitor and inspect public areas as assigned.

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and training support to Room Attendants to ensure adherence to standards.

  • Communicate room status updates accurately and timely to the Front Office.

  • Ensure all safety and sanitation standards are followed.

  • Report lost and found items according to hotel procedures.

  • Assist in prioritizing room assignments to support hotel occupancy and operational needs.

  • Support the Housekeeping team with cleaning duties as needed during high occupancy or staffing shortages.

  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel operations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Housekeeping leadership.

Requirements

  • Some High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years housekeeping experience in hotel preferred. 
  • Read, write and speak English fluently. Knowledge of other languages, especially Spanish is a plus.
  • Knowledge of inventories, scheduling and productivity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other team members verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to inspect 25 to 80 rooms per day.
  • Ability to clean rooms, when needed.
  • Physically able to move and / or operate large objects, such as: maid’s carts, suite furniture, large bags of linen, vacuum cleaners and boxes of inventory.
  • Ability to follow and enforce all hotel standards, including safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency situations.
  • Reports hazardous conditions in work area or equipment to supervisor
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate computer.
  • Previous inspection or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and safety standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or Holidays as needed
  • Successful completion of criminal background

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  •  Able to bend, stretch, and twist
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to work with chemicals according to directions

Job Type: FLSA Designation: Full Time-Non-Exempt

Compensation: $18.00 per hour
