As the Barista Supervisor, you lead the daily operations of the We Proudly Serve Starbucks® venue while inspiring a team of Baristas to deliver exceptional beverages and unforgettable Guest experiences. You set the tone for communication, teamwork, consistency, and service excellence, ensuring the team is aligned, engaged, and supported every shift.
This leadership role combines hands‑on operational execution with people development, coaching, and collaboration across the wider Food & Beverage team.
What You’ll Do
Operational Leadership + Service Excellence
- Clearly communicate shift goals, priorities, and expectations so the team stays aligned and focused.
- Oversee daily venue operations, ensuring efficient flow, optimal coverage, and high‑quality service.
- Maintain Starbucks beverage quality, speed of service, and Grand Casino hospitality standards.
- Collaborate with other Food & Beverage teams, departments, and Supervisors to support overall venue and casino success.
- Uphold all cash‑handling, safety, sanitation, and Brand/Tribal/State/Federal compliance requirements.
- Lead and participate in pre-shift huddles to share updates, reinforce standards, and set a positive tone.
Team Coaching + Associate Development
- Train Baristas on beverage preparation, Guest service, cash-handling, food safety, and operational procedures.
- Provide ongoing coaching—both in‑the‑moment and structured—to help each team member bring their best every shift.
- Offer constructive, consistent feedback that supports growth and builds confidence.
- Identify development opportunities, support cross‑training, and recommend Associates for growth pathways.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance discussions, and talent recommendations.
Quality, Safety + Compliance Oversight
- Ensure Starbucks® recipes, beverage specs, portioning, and presentation standards are followed with consistency.
- Monitor cleanliness, sanitation, equipment care, and product rotation.
- Help manage inventory, restocking, and product organization to support accuracy and waste reduction.
- Report equipment issues promptly and support maintenance coordination.
Collaboration + Continuous Improvement
- Partner with broader Food & Beverage teams to problem‑solve, support events, and maintain venue readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reduce friction, and elevate Guest and team experiences.
- Support new menu rollouts, product launches, and limited‑time offerings through training and communication.
- Promote smooth transitions between shifts with clear pass‑downs and documentation.

What You Bring
- 2+ years barista or coffeehouse experience required (Starbucks environment preferred).
- 1+ year of supervisory or shift‑lead experience preferred.
- Strong communication, coaching, and team‑building skills.
- Knowledge of beverage preparation, food safety, sanitation, and cash‑handling best practices.
- ServSafe Certification preferred (or obtained within 1 year).
- Ability to secure and maintain a GRA license and comply with all Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs).
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference applies in the hiring process.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motion with beverage equipment.
- Exposure to hot equipment, cleaning chemicals, and high volume environments.
- Required uniform and PPE compliance.
- Flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Exposure to secondhand smoke and casino operational conditions.
