Guest Room Attendant

Job Summary

The Guest Room Attendant is responsible for thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing guest rooms according to hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards to ensure customer satisfaction. The ideal individual for this position demonstrates a commitment to maintaining high quality standards and attention to details.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly clean and sanitize guest rooms according to hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards by changing bed linens and replacing towels, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and dusting.
• Change bed linens and replenish towels, amenities, and supplies.
• Clean bathroom – bathtub, shower walls, toilet, sink, mirrors, counters, tiles, and floor.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures, dust furniture, walls, paintings, or equipment.
• Vacuum room and empty trash.
• Clean and sweep balcony and ensure it is free of spider webs and debris.
• Turn in guest items left in rooms according to lost and found policy.
• Proper use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Perform quality check on furniture, fixtures and equipment and report maintenance deficiencies to supervisor or manager.
• Greet guests and fellow associates in a warm and friendly manner.
• Respond to guest questions, complaints and/or requests in a courteous manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform houseperson, lobby attendant and laundry attendant duties when staffing shortages occur or during peak periods.
• Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by management.

Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and ability to operate and work with a variety of cleaning equipment.
• Attention to details with good time management skills.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to push and or pull equipment weighing up to 75 lbs., lift or carry items weighing up to a minimum of 30 lbs., reach, stand, stoop, kneel, bend repetitively during entire shift to perform cleaning tasks.
• Must be able to work with others, communicate well and receive direction when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
• Ability to work flexible shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Housekeeping experience a plus.
