Scope / Qualifications Summary:

The Sr Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Finance and Accounting in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, and implementing proper accounting controls. This role oversees day-to-day accounting functions, vendor coordination, and financial reporting activities while collaborating with hotel leadership, department heads, vendors, and ownership representatives.

Education & Experience:

  • College degree is preferred, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven financial knowledge and computer skills required.
  • A minimum of five years hotel accounting experience required. 
  • Strong financial knowledge and advanced computer skills.
  • Experience posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Experience with Opera, M3, Excel, Fintech, and airline billing systems preferred.
  • Experience with Hyatt / World of Hyatt strongly preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours sometimes required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Light work-Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.

  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider adjust or modify to meet the constraints of a particular need.
  • Must be able to prioritize departmental functions to meet due dates and deadlines.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic function.

Duties and Job Functions

  • Post all invoices into the accounts payable system.
  • Manage the purchase order system and ensure proper approvals are obtained.
  • Follow up with department managers for invoices lacking required approvals.
  • Maintain vendor records and ensure W‑9 forms are on file prior to payment issuance.
  • Post wire transfers into Opera.
  • Reconcile airline billing accounts monthly in a timely manner.
  • Conduct bi‑weekly credit meetings with department heads.
  • Conduct monthly general ledger review meetings with department heads to review expenses.
  • Assist with monthly financial reviews and reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Respond to guest and vendor inquiries including folio requests and billing questions.
  • Process accounts payable checks weekly on site.
  • Process monthly and quarterly sales and occupancy tax filings and payments.
  • Assist with the monthly closing process.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts.
