Director Of Sales
Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: General Manager
Salary: $75,000-90,000 plus incentives
Position Summary
- The Director of Sales is responsible for driving total hotel revenue through strategic leadership of sales, marketing, and market positioning efforts across all business segments, including group, transient, and catering/event.
- This role partners closely with Revenue Management and Marketing to optimize pricing, distribution, and demand generation, ensuring alignment with budget, forecast, and targeted business mix. The Director of Sales plays a key role in positioning the hotel within the local market, building strong client relationships, and delivering consistent commercial performance.
- This is a highly visible leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate brings strong hospitality sales experience, operates effectively in a fast-paced environment, and has a proven ability to drive revenue growth and market share.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of the Annual Sales & Marketing Plan aligned with revenue goals and market opportunities
- Drive total hotel revenue through strategic management of group, transient, and catering/event segments
- Develop and implement sales strategies that increase awareness, demand, and market share
- Partner with the General Manager on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Analyze competitive data, demand trends, and market conditions to inform pricing and business mix strategies
- Direct and manage all sales activities to ensure achievement of revenue targets and performance goals
- Prepare and deliver monthly forecasts, reports, and performance insights
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, accounts, and community partners
- Represent the hotel in the local market through networking, events, and industry engagement
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure seamless execution of group and event business
- Maintain accurate data and reporting within CRM, PMS, and revenue systems
- Lead, coach, and develop the sales team, fostering accountability and performance
- Maintain a visible presence within the hotel to support team members and client relationships
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hotel sales experience required; prior Director of Sales experience preferred
- Strong understanding of hotel revenue drivers, segmentation, and commercial strategy
- Knowledge of travel industry trends, local market dynamics, and economic factors
- Proven ability to prospect, negotiate, and close new business
- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering sales presentations and proposals
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions quickly
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships
- Proficiency in hotel systems, including CRM, PMS, and revenue management tools

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

- Participation in meetings, events, and on-site client interactions

- Salary Range: $75,000-90,000
