The Housekeeping Houseman supports the housekeeping team by maintaining cleanliness in public areas and assisting room attendants with supplies, linens, and heavy tasks. This role ensures a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests.

What you will be doing

Roles and Responsibilities: This job description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that an employee in this position may be asked to perform from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain public areas such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, and back-of-house areas
  • Collect, transport, and dispose of trash and soiled linens
  • Deliver clean linens, towels, and amenities to housekeeping closets and guest rooms
  • Assist room attendants with moving furniture, rollaway beds, cribs, and other heavy items
  • Restock housekeeping carts, closets, and supply rooms
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and housekeeping service calls
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged items to supervisors
  • Follow hotel safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Support special cleaning projects as assigned
  • Perform duties of room attendant when necessary.
  • Report missing/found articles, damage, or merchandise problems to the housekeeping supervisors.
  • Respond at all times in a friendly, helpful manner to guests and other colleagues.
  • Take up any tasks assigned by the supervisors as and when needed.
  • Report to work in required uniform and in adherence with the Hotels Dress Code Policy.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player

Requirements: Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including nights, holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Qualifications

  • Prior housekeeping experience desirable
  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • Must have the ability to clean rooms during an eight-hour working day
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Ability to meet standards of appearance
  • Can communicate well with guests
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy loads (often up to 50 lbs)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment
