About The Opportunity

The Mining Exchange Hotel, a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs, is seeking a motivated and dependable Banquet Steward / Set-Up Attendant to join our Food & Beverage team. This versatile role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, working behind the scenes to support memorable events, and being part of a collaborative hospitality team.

As a Banquet Steward / Set-Up Attendant, you will play a key role in the success of weddings, corporate meetings, social gatherings, and special events hosted throughout the hotel. From setting up banquet rooms and meeting spaces to assisting with event logistics, dishwashing, and serving as a runner between the kitchen and event venues, no two days are the same.

About The Hotel

Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces, and guestrooms are all newly renovated.

Job Role

The Mining Exchange Hotel is seeking a dependable, energetic, and service-oriented Banquet Steward / Set-Up Attendant to support the successful execution of meetings, conferences, weddings, social events, and hotel functions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring banquet spaces are properly set up, maintained, and broken down while providing stewarding support through dishwashing, equipment handling, and event logistics.

The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, takes pride in attention to detail, and is willing to assist wherever needed to create exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities:

Banquet Set-Up & Breakdown

  • Set up banquet rooms according to event orders, floor plans, and management instructions.
  • Arrange tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, linens, podiums, audiovisual equipment, and décor as required.
  • Ensure banquet spaces are clean, organized, and presentation-ready before each event.
  • Break down event spaces promptly and efficiently following events.
  • Reset meeting and event spaces for upcoming functions.
  • Assist with room flips and multiple event transitions throughout the day.

Stewarding & Dishwashing

  • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, kitchen utensils, and banquet equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of stewarding and dishwashing areas.
  • Properly store cleaned equipment and supplies.
  • Follow all sanitation and food safety standards.

Banquet Runner Support

  • Transport food, beverages, supplies, and equipment between the kitchen and banquet venues.
  • Assist banquet servers and culinary teams during event service.
  • Deliver ice, water stations, coffee service, and replenishment items as needed.
  • Ensure banquet stations remain stocked throughout events.
  • Respond promptly to guest and team member requests.

General Event Operations

  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting banquet equipment throughout the hotel.
  • Maintain inventory and organization of banquet storage areas.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment immediately.
  • Support other hotel departments as business demands require.
  • Participate in deep cleaning projects and special assignments.

Compensation: $16.50 per hour 

Requirements

Education: High school education or equivalent experience.

Experience:  

  • Previous banquet, stewarding, hospitality, restaurant, or event setup experience preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move banquet tables, chairs, staging, and equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach throughout shifts.
  • Comfortable working in both kitchen and event environments.
  •  Stand continuously for long periods of time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of proper sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to guest service.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing event needs and schedules.
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands
  • Must be able to work on weekends and holidays. 
  •  Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff, and guests.
