Job Summary

Durango Cocina & Rooftop is seeking a professional, polished, and guest-focused Host/Hostess to join our upscale restaurant and rooftop hospitality team. The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests and plays an important role in setting the tone for a welcoming, organized, and high-standard dining experience.

This position is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, seating guests, assisting with wait times, supporting the flow of the dining room, and maintaining a professional front-of-house presence. The ideal candidate is friendly, well-spoken, organized, and able to provide exceptional guest service in a fast-paced hotel restaurant and rooftop environment.

Key Responsibilities

Greet all guests warmly and professionally upon arrival.

Create a positive first impression that reflects the standards of Durango Cocina & Rooftop and Sanctity Hotel.

Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and seating arrangements.

Seat guests properly based on table availability, server rotation, guest needs, and management direction.

Answer phone calls professionally and provide accurate restaurant, rooftop, reservation, and hotel-related information when applicable.

Communicate wait times clearly and respectfully to guests.

Maintain an organized host stand, reservation system, menus, and guest-facing areas.

Assist with guest flow between dining room, rooftop, bar, lounge, and private event areas as needed.

Support servers, bussers, bartenders, and management to ensure smooth service.

Monitor the dining room and notify management of guest concerns, special requests, VIPs, or service delays.

Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the entrance, host stand, menus, and waiting areas.

Follow all company standards for grooming, uniform, hygiene, guest service, and professional conduct.

Assist with opening, closing, side work, and other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Previous host, hostess, restaurant, hotel, front desk, or guest service experience preferred.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Professional appearance, positive attitude, and welcoming personality.

Ability to stay calm, organized, and respectful during busy periods.

Comfortable speaking with guests in person and over the phone.

Ability to multitask and work well with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management.

Must be dependable, punctual, and team oriented.

Must be available to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Experience with reservation systems or POS systems is a plus.

Preferred Experience

Upscale restaurant, rooftop bar, hotel restaurant, lounge, or hospitality experience.

Experience handling reservations, guest seating, VIP guests, and high-volume dining periods.

Bilingual communication skills are a plus but not required.

Service Standards

The Host/Hostess is expected to represent Durango Cocina & Rooftop, Sanctity Hotel, and the Tapestry Collection by Hilton environment with professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail. This role requires a strong focus on guest experience, proper communication, polished presentation, and teamwork.

Employment Type
