POSITION PURPOSE

The Lounge Bartender will take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages as well as light meals to guests, in a courteous and efficient manner, according to service standards set by hotel and/or brand specifications. He/she will also ensure that supplies are maintained according to department par levels as well as the cleanliness of equipment and work area are maintained.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Understands and abides by all safety protocols.
  • Willingly embrace last-minute changes in direction and unexpected changes in operational plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains positive guest relations at all times.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. Inspect cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas; rectify any deficiencies.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet as well as maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet.
  • Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy as well as security of contracted monies. Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures which include proper tip reporting at end of assigned shift.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of P.O.S. and manual systems. Input orders into system and ensure transmission is verified by Bartender/Kitchen. Legibly document orders when system is down and distribute orders to respective personnel for preparation of order; follow call procedures at the Bar. Retrieve orders from designated areas and serve to guests.
  • Complete department opening side duties which could include: a) Fold/stack cocktail napkins. b) Stock swizzle sticks, straws, matches c) Line cocktail trays. d) Stock glassware. e) Restock supply cabinet. f) Change date on credit card imprinter at opening shift. g) Prepare bowls of bar snacks; place on tables at p.m. h) Set up candles/centerpieces; place on tables at p.m.
  • Complete department closing side duties which could include: a) Properly store all reusable goods. b) Remove snack bowls from tables. c) Remove all items from tables; place clean items in designated areas; wipe clean all surfaces of tables. d) Restock supply cabinet. e) Secure all storage areas f) complete all closing reports in POS system
  • Ensure that service standards set by brand/hotel are followed. This includes: a) greet guests and take their orders (food and beverage) b) utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques, c) Remove soiled wares from tables to dishwashing area, d)Extend courteous salutations when guests leave outlet an invite them to return, e) Check presentation is followed f) Clean and reset tables immediately after guests depart, g) Clearly communicate last call at designated closing time to guests, g)
  • Answer telephone within 3 rings, using correct greeting and phone etiquette
  • Provide club service for designated beverages (if applicable).
  • Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and Hotel requirements.
  • Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to Manager.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education/Experience: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certificates & Licenses: Responsible Alcohol Beverage Service Certification required

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Crestline adheres to all federal, state, and local specific contagion prevention regulations. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required while performing work duties as well as while in common hotel areas. PPE includes:

  • Gloves
  • Masks
  • Use of partitions (where appropriate)

Position will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. Generally, the hotel provides all required PPE. This position responsible for reporting defective, damaged, or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to their manager. All employees will be trained on our contagion prevention procedures and must confirm receipt of learning.

NOTICE:

The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, due to the nature of the hotel business, a service-centric atmosphere must always be projected.
