Position Summary
NewcrestImage is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead all people functions for its corporate office and hotel operations across a portfolio of 35 luxury and select-service hotels in the United States. This leader will own talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, compensation and benefits, training and culture — building an HR function that supports rapid growth, new hotel openings and acquisitions. Hospitality HR experience is required. This role is ideal for a hands-on, strategic HR leader who wants to shape the culture of a growing hospitality company.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Leadership
- Build and lead the HR function for the corporate office and company-managed hotels
- Partner with the Managing Partners, COO and department heads on org design, headcount planning and workforce strategy
- Develop HR policies, programs and processes that scale with portfolio growth
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executives and general managers on all people matters
Talent Acquisition
- Lead recruiting for corporate, regional and hotel leadership roles, including general managers and executive committee members
- Build hiring pipelines and employer brand across hospitality job markets nationwide
- Manage search firms, job boards and applicant tracking systems
- Own staffing plans for new hotel openings, acquisitions and takeovers
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Handle employee relations, investigations and corrective action with fairness and consistency
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws across multiple states, including California
- Oversee FLSA wage-and-hour, leave (FMLA / ADA), I-9 / E-Verify and required workplace postings
- Partner with the VP of Legal on claims, agency charges and policy updates; maintain the employee handbook
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
- Design pay structures and incentive plans that are competitive and fair
- Manage benefits programs, open enrollment and broker / carrier relationships
- Oversee payroll and HRIS accuracy (e.g., ADP) in partnership with Finance
- Benchmark compensation against the hospitality market
Learning, Development & Performance
- Build leadership development and succession plans for general managers and department heads
- Launch onboarding, training and required compliance programs (harassment prevention, safety, human-trafficking awareness)
- Run the performance review process and goal-setting cycle
- Create career paths that grow talent from hourly roles into management
Culture, Engagement & Retention
- Lead engagement surveys, recognition programs and retention initiatives
- Track turnover, time-to-fill and other people metrics; report to leadership
- Embed company values — Integrity, Adaptability, Loyalty and Excellence — across the organization
- Support HR integration during hotel acquisitions, dispositions and management transitions
What Success Looks Like
- Key leadership roles, including general managers, filled quickly with strong hires
- Lower hourly and management turnover across hotels
- Zero compliance gaps in wage-and-hour, I-9 and required training
- Succession plans in place for every general manager and key corporate role
- Smooth HR integration for every new hotel opening and acquisition
- Clear people metrics reported to leadership every month
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Hospitality or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in an HR leadership role
- Hospitality HR experience required — multi-property hotel owner, operator or management company
- Experience supporting both corporate and hotel-level teams across multiple states
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment law, including California•Hands-on experience with HRIS, payroll and applicant tracking systems (e.g., ADP)
- Proven employee relations and investigations experience
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR or PHR certification
- Experience with Marriott and/or Hilton branded hotels, including luxury / lifestyle and full-service
- Hotel opening and acquisition-integration experience
- Experience in a family-office, private-equity-backed or entrepreneurial company
- Bilingual (English / Spanish)
