Chief Engineer

The maintenance engineer works under the direction of the General Manager. His or her responsibilities include daily checklist duties, less frequently performed duties, guest service & satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform highly diversified duties to maintain the property and equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs
• Perform maintenance and/or repairs or replacements including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, dry wall, painting, pool, and others as  needed.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Detect faulty operations, safety hazards, etc. and report to supervisor.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma/ GED preferred
• Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred

Must have or be capable of learning the following basic hotel maintenance skills

• Operation of HVAC units (certification not needed but helpful).
• Operation of water cutoffs for each room & main water cutoff for the hotel.
• Operation of circuit breakers
• Operation of hot water heaters
• Knowledge of how to program, repair, & replace electronic door lock
• Knowledge of swimming pool maintenance and safety
• Knowledge of the safety & security rules & procedures for the hotel

Physical Requirements

• Standing and walking throughout shift (approximately 6 hours)
• Bending, stooping, kneeling
• Lifting up to approximately 50 pounds
