Compensation: 17.00, Seasonal, Full-Time

FUNCTION:

Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of those using the Hotel's pool and hot tub.

*Company paid certification classes*

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures complete guest satisfaction. Treats guests in friendly and helpful manner.
  • To supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations.
  • To warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards.
  • To rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR, and First Aid.
  • To notify the Human Resource Manager of any accidents, rescues, or problems that have arisen.
  • To report to the Human Resource Manager any equipment that is in need or repair.
  • To successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics.
  • Adherence to the Winston Hospitality's workplace expectations, encompassing communication, working relations, job reliability and initiative, safety, accomplishment of work tasks and supervision.
  • To answer inquiries pertaining to the use of the pool.
  • To conduct simple tests to determine water quality.
  • To direct all helpful suggestions from participants and others to your direct supervisor.
  • Attend scheduled in-service training and all mandatory meetings.
  • To maintain attendance and activity record and complete required reports.
  • To provide periodic supervision and custodial needs of locker rooms.
  • To assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool, restrooms and related areas and facilities.
  • Responsible for performing "other duties" as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school is desirable. In addition, Lifeguards must be currently certified with Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equal to certification. Including CPR & First Aid. 

SKILLS & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid, recognize hazardous situations, and adopt effective coursed of action. The Lifeguard must also have effective communication skills and engage positively with the public.

  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Able to work some overtime.
  • Computer literate.
  • Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each immediately.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS 

  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to perform all job duties including lifting, moving loads up to 25 pounds, be able to sit for long periods of time, etc.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English. 
  • Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations. 
  • Respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Possibly be exposed to second hand smoke.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, kneel, stand, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility. Duties require attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of unsafe behaviors. The position requires proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first-aid techniques. This position requires the ability to properly extract victims from the pool to the deck. Further this position will require operating equipment.

GROOMING/UNIFORMS 

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
