Property Accountant

Description

Position Summary: Performs hotel accounting including compiling, reviewing and reconciling entries. Processes accounting reports and payroll.

1. Maintain current knowledge of all accounting systems.
2. Ensure account coding is accurate and invoices are processed timely.
3. Respond promptly to vendor inquiries.
4. Ensure purchasing policies are followed
5. Review guest ledger accounts to ensure accounts are maintained
6. Verify accuracy of night audit work input data into M3 for the daily.
7. Post ledger payments. Reconcile and bill accounts.
8. Reconcile credit card back up and inform management of discrepancies.
9. Set up new accounts in accordance with policy.
10. Audit daily deposits.
11. Assist in reconciling bank and balance sheets.
12. Assist in preparing journal entries at month end.
13. Prepare and submit petty cash reimbursements in accordance with accounting policies.
14. Reconcile daily postings of cash and report daily overages/shortages.
15. Input new hire, personnel changes and rate changes in the pay system.
16. Maintain confidentiality and keep payroll records updated such as W-4, rates of pay benefits, address, phone number, etc.
17. Enter pay details including time clock records, tips, vacation, sick, etc.
18. Prepare payroll reports and verify accuracy
19. Assist in administering wage garnishments.
20. Adhere to hotel grooming standards.
21. Perform any additional tasks requested by management.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in accounting, business or related field from a four-year college or university. High school diploma or GED plus 4 years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the above skills, knowledge and ability.

Experience: Accounting background and familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft office ability to create excel formulas

Hours required: Scheduled days and time vary based on hotel needs. May be required to work weekends.

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to provide friendly guest service with a smile.
