Your Mission

The Director of IT Operations & Systems is responsible for providing consistent leadership in the Information Technology area of the company by supplying management with guidance and training. He/she is also responsible for focusing on the technical stability and security of the business, maintaining all infrastructure, platforms, applications and vendor partnership, ensuring acceptable service levels and security controls, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and safeguarding owners/investors assets.

The Director of IT Operations & Systems is responsible for directing and coordinating the operation of the entire technology landscape and ecosystem, including network, infrastructure, platforms (cloud and on-premise), endpoints, hardware, software and systems company-wide (corporate & hotel), ensuring that all policies and procedures are established, evolved, published and followed, and rectifying any problems which arise.  They will do this with a close partnership with our managed service provider and other resources, both internal and external to the home office.

What exactly you will be doing…

In helping you understand your role in working for a world class organization, the following is a list of your essential job responsibilities.  Please keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive and that you may be asked to perform other job tasks by your supervisors/managers not listed below in the constant quest to provide “out of this world” customer service experience for our guests:

  • Responsible for ensuring Virgin Hotel infrastructure and operations standards are communicated and followed by properties and service providers
  • Obtains infrastructure and operations trends in the hospitality industry, evaluates them and works with leadership to determine what can and should be a part of Virgin Hotel standards for both existing and future properties
  • Assist where needed properties and home office budget for future technology to be placed into the eco system
  • Consult with management to determine information requirements and to determine priorities and parameters of new projects; discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions
  • Proactively monitor, maintain and address operations and infrastructure issues as they arise across the portfolio
  • Consult with application teams to ensure infrastructure and operations are able to support the business as needed 
  • Maintains operations and infrastructure roadmap for home office and properties
  • Establishes and maintains processes to support cyber security initiatives
  • Oversee internal support and managed service and vendor resources to ensure successful delivery of services to hotel operations and guests.
  • Prepare progress reports to inform management of project status and any deviation from goals.
  • Review reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance to ascertain costs and plan operating changes.
  • Participate in projects as needed to ensure once implemented there is the properties and service providers have adequate documentation to support the new capabilities

  • Ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need. 
  • Effectiveness in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. 
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. 
Background Must Have
  • Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United States.
  • This is a hybrid role based out of Coconut Grove, FL (Miami).
  • 5 years of progressive experience in an MIS, systems or related field or a degree or at least 1 year of related experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a hotel or related industry is preferred.
  • Must be proficient and have working knowledge/experience in industry standard technology platform - Windows, VMWare/Nutanix/etc, Microsoft O365, Security Platforms for NextGen AntiVirus, EDR and SEIM, etc.
  • Experienced working with Azure, VMware, Microsoft 365 Admin, Domain Controllers, GPO’s, Exchange Admin, SharePoint, Microsoft Volume Licensing is highly preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of infrastructure required to deliver company specified line of business applications and in the operation of all hotel-specific systems (i.e. PMS, POS, ERP, etc systems) is essential.
