Job Title: Card Room Massage Therapist

Department: Resort Spa

Reports To: Spa Treatment Lead

Summary

Performs chair massage therapy for guests in the Arena Poker Room.  Massage therapist is responsible for guest satisfaction in the poker room by performing quality services and maintaining all poker room standards. Maintains a clean and safe work environment in a professional manner at all times and follows all established protocols and checklists to enhance the operation and guest experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs professional chair massage services for Poker room guests, according to Talking Stick Resort’s established quality and health standards.
  • Responsible for all payments received in exchange for goods and services.
  • Responsible for checking out a bank at the beginning of shift and checking in the bank at end of shift.
  • Demonstrates full knowledge of spa services and is able to communicate them to the guest.
  • Refers guests to spa for retail product selections and maintains a working knowledge of products.
  • Responsible for selling, booking repeat services, maintaining customer satisfaction, and for guest retention
  • Promptly notifies Spa Manager or poker room floor personnel of any service issues or complaints.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies on a daily basis and assists in inventory control.
  • Maintains and respects guest confidentiality.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and have good dexterity in fingers, wrists, and hands without restrictions.
  • Must have working knowledge of anatomy and physiologies of the body and an in-depth knowledge of the latest massage industry techniques.
  • Displays professional appearance and conduct at all times with both guests and employees.
  • Makes all guests feel welcome and takes ownership of simple requests.
  • Reads log books, communications boards, and memos daily, and is responsible for being aware of the information contained therein.
  • Maintains cleanliness of designated areas as directed in accordance with established company as well as local health and safety standards.
  • Promptly communicates lost and found items to security including all monies.

Education and/or Experience: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum of 700 hours of training at a recognized massage school; prefer (1) year work experience in a casino poker room environment or corporate chair massage; or at least (1) year full time experience working in the spa industry.  Service industry experience a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • Must possess a current, valid Arizona State or National Massage License recognized by the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy.  Must meet and maintain Arizona State Board Massage Licensing requirements.

Computer Skills: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic PC skills; a working knowledge of POS systems or related cashiering systems is preferred.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Knowledge of multiple languages is a plus.

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods, bend, lean and walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
