Our contributions within the community of Salluit, QC, are a testament to our commitment. Salluit stands at the centre of Nunavik’s 14 communities, making it an ideal meeting spot for the people of the Hudson and Ungava coasts. Following decades of dedicated service towards developing the area since the early 1900's, the township was officially recognized in 1979. To this day, the Sallumiut's traditions and culture remain an inseparable part of the community's identity as a place founded on perseverance and commitment. Today, the township is solely accessible by plane through daily flights at Salluit Airport connecting its 1,241 residents (according to the Makivik Corporation website) to Montreal, 1,854 km away. Incoming flights are greeted with the sight of flush wildlife, prime for the harvesting of fresh clams, arctic char, caribou, berries and herbs. Languages spoken in the region include Inuktitut, French and English.
