About this job…

The Director of Rooms is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel's guest-facing departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Concierge, and Guest Services. This role is central to ensuring an exceptional guest experience while fostering a positive, high-performance culture among associates.

The Director of Rooms leads the recruitment, training, development, and retention of a best-in-class team, emphasizing excellence in service, operational efficiency, and associate engagement. This position also plays a key role in managing departmental budgets, optimizing resources, and driving profitability. The Director of Rooms serves as a critical leader in maintaining the hotel’s reputation for outstanding service, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

A successful Director of Rooms proactively addresses guest concerns, maintains smooth operational workflows, and ensures compliance with brand standards. The ideal candidate inspires associates to consistently exceed guest expectations while promoting a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative environment.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Proactively address guest concerns by ensuring appropriate, accessible, and convenient amenities and service offerings.
  • Overseeing all room-related operations to ensure seamless guest experiences.

  • Leading, coaching, and motivating associates to achieve operational excellence.

  • Managing departmental budgets and optimizing labor and resources.

  • Monitoring guest satisfaction and resolving issues promptly and effectively.

  • Implementing training programs and performance standards to develop talent.

  • Supporting a culture of diversity, inclusion, and teamwork across all departments

  • Know, maintain, and communicate hotel emergency procedures; inform and assist guests and operations in emergencies.

Success factors…

Experience & Education: 

  • 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in hotel operations, with a strong background in front office, housekeeping, or rooms management. 
  • Experience in full-service or luxury hotel environments is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams, achieving operational excellence, and driving guest satisfaction.

  • Demonstrated experience managing departmental budgets, labor, and resources effectively.

  • Strong knowledge of hotel management systems, operational procedures, and brand standards.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong diplomacy skills with focus on problem solving
  • Strong administrative skills with intermediate experience with Microsoft Office systems
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in primary language used in the workplace

Physical:

  • 8+ hours per day; stand, sit, and walk frequently throughout the workday
  • Lift, lower, push, pull, and maneuver up to 30 pounds occasionally
