About the Position
Lakewood Country Club is seeking a Certified Pool Operator/Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Maintenance Department. We are looking for a dedicated, hardworking, and punctual individual to help maintain our high standards of service and facility care. This position requires one weekend shift per week. Job Description and Requirements
The primary responsibility of the Certified Pool Operator/Maintenance Technician is the year-round care and maintenance of the Club’s three swimming pools, with daily oversight required during the summer months when the pools are in use. During periods when the pools require less attention, this position will transition to supporting general maintenance tasks as assigned to our Maintenance Technicians. Candidates must possess strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrate the necessary skills for the maintenance and operation of large swimming pools. The primary directives of this position are as follows:
- Daily management, maintenance, and operation of the Club’s three swimming pools.
- Inventory management and utilization of required pool chemicals.
- Responsible for the setup and breakdown of equipment for all pool activities, including Club events held in or around the swimming pools.
- Implements the requirements of the preventive maintenance program.
- Conduct daily inspections of Club property and promptly report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Performs maintenance and general repairs on plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, heating and ventilation systems, and all building structures throughout the Club.
- Maintains the air conditioning, refrigeration, and ice machines.
- Maintains the maintenance shop in a clean and organized manner.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies is required.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities and provides support to other departments as directed by the department head.
Qualifications and Preferred Attributes
We seek the following qualifications and attributes in our Certified Pool Operators and Facility Maintenance Technicians:
- Possesses a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or has the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
- Proficient in handling standard pool chemicals in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Skilled in diagnosing and resolving issues related to pool pumps and plumbing systems.
- Reliability – Team members are expected to consistently attend all scheduled shifts and demonstrate flexibility by being available to work weekends and holidays as needed. Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies is also required.

Education and Experience
- CPO certification is preferred but not required. Lakewood will facilitate certification for the right candidate within 30 days of employment.
- Completion of post-secondary vocational or technical training in HVACR is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills is required.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English is required.
