Compensation: $21.41 to $26.76 per hour, Full-Time

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

Assure cleanliness of guest floor corridors, foyers, stairwells, and public areas and assists room attendants in order to maintain Langham and Forbes standards of quality. Assist colleagues whenever they are in need of help.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Ensure all areas are kept free of soiled linen and trash.  Stock closets with all supplies and linen as directed. Obtain amenities and supplies for room attendants as directed.
  • Pick up and sanitize glasses according to hotel policy.
  • Keep butler pantries and housekeeping storage areas clean and neat.
  • Vacuum, sweep, and/or mop hallways, stairwells and foyers as needed.
  • Clean and remove spots from corridor walls and doors.  Polish and clean mirrors, room numbers on guestroom doors, and elevator rooms.
  • Flip mattresses and move furniture as assigned by supervisor.
  • Be able to do laundry, clean rooms, and public area
  • Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • In slow season it is necessary to support in other areas such as laundry, public area, and room attendants. 
  • Respond to guest questions. Provide guest assistance, directions and/or escort guests, and provide information as requested.
  • Provide service to hotel guests as specified in Langham and Forbes service standards.
  • Ensure to always be immaculately dressed according to hotel standards
  • Assist with any other requests from supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, stand and walk continuously, climb stairs, and push or pull heavy equipment.  Requires walking 90 - 95 % of workday.  Must be able to push / up to 50 lbs.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of stain removal and chemical cleaning agents, and operation of different types of equipment.
  • Ability to learn how to properly work with hazardous chemicals in accordance with company standards.
  • Ability to read and write basic English to complete forms such as a room status report.
  • Ability to organize and prioritized work and meet deadlines.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Previous luxury hotel experience preferred.

SALARY RANGE:

$21.41 - $26.76/hour

The Langham, Chicago, opened its doors July 2013.  The 52-story building, situated on the plaza overlooking the River, was designed by famed Chicago architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.  Langham Chicago takes up 13 floors of the iconic building.  The ground floor reception area designed by Dirk Lohan of Lohan Anderson, was van der Rohe's grandson and the Lobby is a tribute to his grandfather's distinctive style showcasing period and contemporary influences.  Throughout the hotel, you will find many influences of Mies van der Rohe.
