Maintenance Engineer / General Maintenance
The Engineer/Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical property, guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems in a safe, clean, comfortable, and fully operational condition. This position responds promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests and completes preventive maintenance and work orders in accordance with Hyatt Place standards.
The Engineer/Maintenance Technician is an important part of the guest experience and is expected to demonstrate professionalism, urgency, teamwork, and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Rooms
- Inspect guest rooms for proper working order and report or correct maintenance issues.
- Repair or replace defective lighting, switches, outlets, fixtures, furniture, plumbing fixtures, and other room equipment.
- Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests.
- Address heating, cooling, television, plumbing, electrical, and other maintenance concerns.
- Ensure completed repairs meet hotel quality and safety standards.
- Communicate with Housekeeping and Front Desk regarding rooms requiring maintenance attention.
Building & Public Areas
- Conduct daily inspections of public areas, hallways, stairwells, elevators, restrooms, meeting spaces, lobby, breakfast area, pool area, and exterior areas.
- Identify safety hazards, damage, leaks, odors, lighting issues, and equipment problems.
- Maintain the appearance and functionality of hotel facilities.
- Perform minor drywall, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs as qualified.
- Maintain doors, locks, door closers, furniture, fixtures, and other hotel equipment.
- Monitor building systems and report significant issues to management.
Preventive Maintenance
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance on guest rooms, equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other property assets.
- Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records.
- Follow the hotel's preventive maintenance schedule and ensure assigned tasks are completed on time.
- Identify potential problems before they become guest-impacting issues.
Work Orders
- Receive, document, prioritize, and complete maintenance work orders.
- Respond to emergency and guest-impacting work orders as quickly as possible.
- Record work performed, parts used, and any follow-up required.
- Notify the Manager/GM when a repair requires outside vendors or specialized service.
- Follow up on open work orders until the issue has been resolved.
Pool Responsibilities
- Inspect the pool area and equipment according to hotel procedures.
- Complete required pool chemical testing and documentation.
- Maintain accurate pool logs.
- Monitor pool equipment and report leaks, equipment failures, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the pool mechanical area.
- Follow all applicable local, state, health department, and hotel pool safety requirements.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
