Compensation: $16.70 to $20.88 per hour plus tips, Part-Time

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

Provide service assistance to Bartenders with the initial preparation and servicing of all department and portable bars operating within the hotel. Provide friendly, courteous and professional service to guests in the hotel bar, while maintaining high levels of service per Langham Hospitality Group and Forbes standards. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES: 

  • Responsible for the requisition and stocking of all beer, wine, and spirits when received from the Purchasing Department.
  • Responsible for juicing, syrups, and cordial preparation in sufficient amounts according to projected business. Keep back-up juices, syrups, and cordials organized in a clean refrigerated space in prescribed containers for later use.
  • Responsible for the preparation of cocktail batches following the correct recipes. 
  • Responsible for stocking the bar during and at the end of the service following outlined pars levels.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of back-up storages including beer coolers, syrup, and cordial coolers and bar shelves in the cellar to comply with health code standards.
  • Responsible for polishing glasses during service and keeping the glass shelves always stocked according to par levels. 
  • Responsible for scooping ice from ice bins, transporting to service areas and replenishing ice containers for usage.
  • Knowledge of hotel facilities and local city attractions to respond to guest inquiries. 
  • Cooperate closely with other members of the outlet team including servers, porters, and kitchen associates. 
  • Daily communication with restaurant management.
  • Clean bar and restaurant areas during and after meal periods. 
  • Be a positive team player with the ability to complete large tasks. 
  • Acquire a working knowledge of the hotel, in-house facilities, and local information to respond to customer inquiries about the area. 
  • Follow health and safety procedures.
  • Work well in a team atmosphere and independently. 
  • Self-motivated and friendly, able to work with a diverse team of people.
  • Attend monthly department meetings. 
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards. 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested e.g., special guest requests.
  • Must adhere to all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.
  • Other duties as assigned such as assisting security with disorderly guests.
  • Report to duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.
  • Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.
  • Be fully versed in all Forbes service standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Activities include standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, lifting, carrying, seeing, hearing, talking, walking.  Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as pertaining to pouring of drinks from bottles and shaking with shakers.
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing for 90% of work shift is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation.
  • Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
  • Ability to read, speak and understand the English language to communicate with guests and other staff members.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to work stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to operate beverage equipment: coffeemaker, iced tea machine, etc.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • High school diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • One year of previous bar experience is preferred. Luxury experience preferred. 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

  • Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. 

SALARY RANGE:

  • $16.70-$20.88/hour, plus discretionary gratuities
