Job Overview:
The Hotel Housekeeper at The DoubleTree by Hilton Harrisonburg plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests. They are responsible for ensuring that all guest rooms, common areas, and facilities are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and presentation. A successful Housekeeper ensures a positive guest experience by maintaining attention to detail, efficiency, and professionalism while adhering to Encore Hospitality’s policies and health standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Clean and sanitize guest rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and other assigned locations.
- Dust, polish, and vacuum furniture, carpets, and draperies.
- Sweep, mop, and clean floors and hard surfaces.
- Replace linens, towels, and toiletries in guest rooms as needed.
- Empty trash, replace liners, and ensure waste disposal areas are tidy.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in proper working condition.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces in rooms and common areas.

Guest Service:
- Greet guests politely if encountered during work and provide assistance if needed.
- Respond to guest requests for additional supplies or special services in a timely manner.
- Handle lost and found items according to company policy.

Inventory & Stocking:
- Replenish guestroom amenities such as toiletries, tea/coffee supplies, and stationery.
- Ensure linen carts and housekeeping closets are fully stocked and organized.
- Report low inventory levels to the supervisor for restocking.

Compliance & Safety:
- Follow Encore Hospitality’s health and safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure that cleaning chemicals and equipment are used properly and stored safely.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues (e.g., faulty appliances, plumbing issues) to the maintenance team.
- Comply with hotel policies regarding privacy and security of guest information and belongings.
- Adhere to the hotel’s eco-friendly and sustainability initiatives by following energy and water-saving practices.

Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other housekeeping staff to ensure timely turnover of rooms.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments (front desk, maintenance) about guest needs or special instructions.
- Participate in regular training and team meetings to improve skills and stay updated on new protocols or policies.
Qualifications and Skills:

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Relevant certifications in hospitality or cleaning may be an advantage but are not required.

Experience:
- Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel or resort setting is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Experience in customer service or the hospitality industry is beneficial.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with thoroughness and efficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a team player.
- Basic understanding of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with guests and team members.
- Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role, which includes lifting, bending, and long periods of standing.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, such as linens, towels, and cleaning supplies.
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, and reach for extended periods.
- Capability to work with cleaning chemicals and safely operate cleaning equipment.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts as needed.
