Job Summary:
The Sales Manager supports the hotel’s sales efforts through proactive prospecting, relationship building, lead management, and exceptional guest and client service. Working closely with the Sales & Marketing leadership team, this role assists in driving group and transient revenue through account management, business development, and client engagement.
This position is ideal for a hospitality professional with strong guest service and hotel systems experience who is looking to grow within hotel sales. The ideal candidate is hospitality-driven, organized, technically savvy, and eager to develop in sales, business development, and hotel operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Practice OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and comply with all company safety policies and procedures
Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone/email solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication
Respond to inbound leads received through OSEM Opera within 4 hours of assignment
Prepare written correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance
Participation in daily sales meeting,, training and other sales related meetings as required
Work with other departments within hotel
Proactively pursue new business development opportunities on a regular basis according to market assignment
Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
Professionally represent the hotel in community, industry organizations and trade shows.
Complete all required brand training in a timely manner and maintain compliance with all brand standards
Assist with reports and/or competition data collection
Employ revenue management techniques to recommend corporate rate proposals
Accurately prepare and present Requests for Proposals so that both client and hotel receive a good value
Develop, implement and constantly modify sales action plans
Manage and maintain an accurate and up-to-date contact management system
Negotiate and close contracts that meet the hotel’s business plan objectives. Desired arrival, departure and volume patterns must be met
Internally communicate client requirements, thereby insuring all information is accurate between client and hotel staff
Maintain good rapport with local civic groups and companies
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Hospitality-driven, organized, technically savvy, and eager to develop in sales, business development, and hotel operations.
2+ Years of related experience with progressive management experience
At least a minimum of 1-year hotel service experience
Ability to work independently and demonstrate exceptional time management skills
Must have exceptional computer skills in Google, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, - Opera
Ability to travel locally to attend workshops, trade shows, conventions, etc.
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Must be able to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer a four year college degree or equivalent work experience
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements:
Frequently standing up or moving within and outside of the facility
Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds
