Seeking a Skilled Maintenance Engineer to Elevate Hotel Operations & Guest Experience at Encore Hospitality
Compensation: $15.00 to $16.00 per hour, Full-Time
All Shifts

Job Overview:

The Maintenance Engineer at Encore Hospitality is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs across the hotel, ensuring the smooth operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. This role requires a hands-on individual with technical expertise who can troubleshoot issues, perform general repairs, and maintain the physical integrity of the hotel’s facilities. The Maintenance Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring guest satisfaction by maintaining a clean, safe, and fully operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Maintenance & Repairs:
    • Perform routine inspections and repairs of the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
    • Troubleshoot issues with equipment, systems, and appliances, identifying problems and executing timely repairs.
    • Ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas are properly maintained and in good working order.
    • Conduct minor carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs as needed.
    • Ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner to minimize disruption to hotel operations and guests.
  2. Preventive Maintenance:
    • Assist in executing the hotel’s preventive maintenance program by regularly inspecting systems and equipment.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and report any significant issues to the Chief Engineer.
    • Ensure that all tools, equipment, and systems are functioning at optimal levels to prevent breakdowns.
    • Identify potential issues before they become major problems and take appropriate corrective action.
  3. Guest Requests & Service:
    • Respond to guest complaints and service requests related to room maintenance (e.g., plumbing issues, lighting repairs, heating/cooling adjustments).
    • Ensure all guest requests are handled professionally, with minimal disruption, and in a timely manner.
    • Work collaboratively with the front desk and housekeeping teams to address guest needs and enhance the overall guest experience.
  4. Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory standards while performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Identify and mitigate any safety hazards in guest areas, equipment rooms, and back-of-house facilities.
    • Assist in ensuring that all equipment and systems are compliant with local and national building codes.
    • Participate in safety training sessions and emergency preparedness drills to ensure readiness in case of incidents.
  5. Inventory & Supplies:
    • Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment, and notify the Chief Engineer of any required reorders.
    • Assist in maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring they are properly stored and readily available when needed.
    • Help manage and maintain the hotel’s maintenance logs, ensuring all activities are properly documented.
  6. Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with other departments, such as housekeeping and front desk, to ensure smooth hotel operations.
    • Communicate effectively with the Chief Engineer and other team members to provide updates on ongoing repairs, maintenance needs, and completed tasks.
    • Attend regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on hotel operations and safety procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Technical certifications in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or a related field are preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably within the hospitality industry.
    • Familiarity with building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical operations.
    • Experience with basic carpentry, painting, and general repair tasks.
  3. Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a guest-focused attitude.
    • Basic proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, climbing, and reaching.
  • Capable of working in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Work Environment:

  • Hands-on, fast-paced role that involves working in various areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and maintenance rooms.
  • Indoor and outdoor work may be required, depending on the nature of the repair or maintenance task.
