8am-4:30pm Mon-Friday or 9am-5:30pm Sat/Sun

JOB SUMMARY

Provide excellent service to hotel guest rooms in a devoted and efficient manner.  Able to clean assigned rooms while adhering to Hotel Valencia Riverwalk standards for cleanliness and appearance standards.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cleaning rooms, vacuuming, making beds and changing linens according to our Green Policy, cleaning bathrooms and general organization of guest belongings and furnishings.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities
  • Ensure complete cleanliness of the guest room in such areas as the Entry Door, Closet, Minibar, Cabinet Area, Bed/Nightstand Area, Desk/Window Area, General Room, and Bathroom.
  • Maintain a 90% and above weekly audits given for vacant clean rooms and stayover rooms. If a 90% and above is not maintained, disciplinary action to follow.
  • Use correct chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Clean assigned rooms by priority  and as directed by the supervisors and managers.
  • Remove towels and sheets according the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk’s green policy. Always change sheets and towels if stained, dirty, hair and tears regardless if requested or not.
  • Remove soil, dirt, soap build up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain and floor.
  • Replace laundry bags and slips.
  • Clean closets and door tracks on check out rooms, removing dust and debris. Ensure correct amount and placement of hangers, extra blanket/pillow and other amenities.
  • Dust and polish all furniture, pictures, frames, mirrors, light bulb, switches, TV and remote.
  • Open all drawers/doors in check out rooms and remove items left by guests.  Dust in side and report lost and found items to your supervisor.
  • Check under bed(s), chairs, desk, nightstands and sink for debris and remove if present.
  • Inspect the condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains: report any damages to maintenance and housekeeping supervisors.
  • Remove dust, spots and smears from all doors, drapes, windows, ledges, frames, baseboards, AC units, corners and telephones. Alert a supervisor if a bedside phone needs a new faceplate.
  • Inspect condition of amenities on desk, drawers, and guest service directory, replace any items as necessary and ensure each room has the correct month magazine. 
  • Ensure presence of fire safety, rate cards and DND signs. Inspect conditions and relace if needed.
  • Vacuum throughout the entire room.
  • Update the status of rooms cleaned on assignments sheet at the time of completion. Also, update the status of room to vacant clean or occupied clean status on the work phone assigned to you and the paper copy of your board.
  • Ensure lost and found items from guest rooms are reported for pick up by a supervisor/manager.
  • Handle guest issues and special requests to best of ability to ensure guest satisfaction. Alert supervisor and or manager immediately if situation calls for one.
  • Ensure guest preferences are completed as requested.
  • Maintain productivity time of .57 for check out rooms (34 minutes per room) and .20 for stayover rooms. (12 minutes per room)
  • Do not leave until a supervisor has verified your assignments have been completed and all DND’s have been called. Failure to leave before will result in disciplinary action.

INCENTIVES:

  • All Room Attendants will be given the opportunity to be compensated based on their speed/productivity. Allowing the Room Attendants to earn more money per hour than they normally would. All Room Attendants will still be held accountable for meeting the minimum standard of cleanliness for each room they clean. 
  • Extra bed/rollaway bed incentive.
  • Trip Advisor name drop incentive.
  • Digital tipping.

BASICS 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Display courteous behavior with guests and team members
  • Report any unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure hotel equipment is in proper working condition
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Physical Requirements

  • Standing/Walking: Frequently.  Walking up to two miles per day on cement, tile, asphalt, and carpet
  • Crouching (bend at knees): Frequently.  During the processing of cleaning guestrooms.
  • Twisting (knees/waist/neck): Frequently. Process linen from carts to machinery.
  • Reaching (Overhead/Extension): Frequently, for irons, ironing boards and linen shelves.
  • Handling /Grasping: Constantly. Handling linen, trash and guest cleaning supplies.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Average weight occasionally 50 lbs. Room Attendants do NOT have carts. 
  • Lifting/Carrying: Average weight frequently 30 lbs.  Maximum weight occasionally 50 lbs. Delivering linen and towels to guest rooms. Caring tote bag with cleaning supplies to guest rooms

Working Environment

  • All Interior and exterior of the hotel.  Exposure to extreme heat and humidity.
  • Exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals in a controlled environment.

Exterior Environment

  • Maintain cleanliness of the employee entrance and loading dock area. Room attendants are also responsible for cleaning balconies on the exterior of the guest rooms.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • Previous housekeeping/laundry experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • Able to read labels in English for chemicals and standard operating procedures.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Multitask-oriented.
  • Practical and organized in a small work area.
  • Ability to overcome unexpected obstacles through resourceful means.
  • Neat, professional appearance and good personal hygiene.
  • Able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.  In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Excels in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to communicate with guests, associates, and management.
  • Ability to take direction from hotel and housekeeping management.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, follow-through courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
