Director of Operations

General Job Description:

A Director of Operations is responsible for all aspects of a hotel to make sure that it is running smoothly and making profit while ensuring that the guests have a positive experience and will want to stay again. Responsible for short and long term planning of day to day operations of the hotel areas in Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage related areas. Recommends budget and manage expenses within approved budget constraints.

Essential Job Tasks

• Day-to-day operation of the Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage including banquet with a heavy concentration on the property’s F&B outlets, and other key operating areas of the hotel.
• Work closely with and gain a working knowledge of Front Office, Housekeeping, Accounting and the necessary aspects of Food & Beverage and Engineering.
• Accurately execute all company and brand initiatives, policies and procedures with a continuous improvement in quality, service and operations.
• Interact with the General Manager and other key department heads on a daily basis to ensure exceptional service and maximization of revenues.
• Controls costs effectively to meet budget guidelines. Has control system in place for all controllable costs and main hours.
• Develop and implement programs designed to improve the efficiency of the operation and which improve the service to our guests.
• Train and instruct other members of the staff through the day-to-day sharing of your knowledge and skills.
• Ensure seamless communication to all operations team members.
• Observe staff performance, conduct various evaluations, and coordinate action plans for all areas found deficient.
• Coach, counsel, and motivate all team members as necessary.
• Ensures that recognition programs for both guest and associates are in place and working.
• Conducts audit and controls on a regular basis. Communicates with accounting in case of any irregularities.
• Initiates additional tasks to improve existing procedures and guest satisfaction.
• Resolves system problems and can operate the system manually. Can lead the staff through a down time.
• Initiates monthly meetings in the department. Attend staff meetings, operations meetings, forecast meetings and sales strategy meetings.
• Ensure that accurate inventories are taken with company guideline inventoried products. Participate in the Manager on Duty Program. Provide leadership as the hotel manager in the absence of the General Manager.
• Additional tasks or roles directed by hotel management.

Candidate Profile:

• Degree in Hospitality Management is a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of Hotel Management experience
• Technical Skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and experience with hotel reservation and accounting systems
