Job Description

The Area Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations for Chateau Hotel and Hotel Royal, two distinctive boutique hotels located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter. This role ensures both properties remain safe, well-maintained, and fully operational while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

The Area Maintenance Manager has full accountability for the physical buildings, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and life-safety systems, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently and in compliance with brand standards, ownership expectations, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position balances strategic planning with hands-on leadership, protecting the long-term value of each asset through preventive maintenance programs, capital planning, and timely repairs.

Working closely with hotel leadership, the Area Maintenance Manager oversees engineering budgets, preventive maintenance initiatives, vendor relationships, and energy conservation efforts while directing the day-to-day engineering operations across both hotels. Additional responsibilities include training, mentoring, scheduling, and developing engineering team members, ensuring consistent maintenance standards, and responding quickly to operational needs in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects while maintaining a positive guest experience.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Chief Engineer or Facilities Engineer in a hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, and life-safety systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, federal, state, and local building codes, equipment operations, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience managing multiple properties or complex hotel operations is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate engineering teams.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and emergency situations as needed.
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
