The Clayfield is a new 102-room luxury boutique hotel opening in Niagara-on-the-Lake and part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, The Clayfield will deliver a highly personalized, refined guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.
The Bookkeeper plays an important role in supporting the financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, accounts payable/receivable, and daily accounting tasks. This role provides hands-on support to the Finance department, helping maintain accurate financial records and smooth day-to-day accounting operations.
Working closely with the Finance leadership team, the Bookkeeper helps ensure the accuracy, organization, and integrity of the hotel's financial transactions in a luxury hospitality environment.
What You'll Do
• Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper coding and approval
• Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents, resolving discrepancies as needed
• Prepare and process accounts payable batches and payment runs
• Reconcile vendor statements and respond to vendor inquiries professionally
• Assist with accounts receivable, including posting payments and following up on outstanding balances
• Perform daily reconciliation of cash, credit card, and city ledger transactions
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation
• Assist with month-end close procedures, including accruals and account reconciliations
• Support preparation of financial reports and journal entries as required
• Monitor and maintain general ledger accuracy for assigned accounts
• Assist with payroll support tasks as needed, in coordination with the Finance team
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures
• Support internal and external audit requests with accurate documentation
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information at all times
What You'll Bring
• A passion for accuracy, organization, and financial detail
• Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience is required; hospitality industry experience is considered an asset
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with hotel accounting systems is an asset
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and a professional, service-focused approach when liaising with vendors and colleagues
• A diploma or certificate in accounting/bookkeeping is considered an asset
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with financial information
