What you will be doing
This position is responsible for leading the hotel's training strategy while serving as a key member of the Human Resources team. The HR Manager will design, facilitate, and track training programs that support departmental performance, compliance requirements, leadership development, guest service excellence, and Hilton brand initiatives. A significant focus of the role is coaching leaders and team members on Hilton's Guest Recovery models, service culture, and guest engagement practices to drive satisfaction and loyalty.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Lead recruitment, selection, hiring, and onboarding of hourly and management employees.
- Coordinate and facilitate (if needed) new hire orientation and onboarding programs.
- Process and finalize all new hire documentation and HRIS entries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain accurate job descriptions and support performance appraisal processes.
Training & Development
- Lead the hotel's Training & Development strategy and annual learning plan.
- Facilitate New Team Member Orientation, leadership development, compliance training, and departmental learning programs.
- Partner with department leaders to identify training needs and develop solutions that improve operational performance.
- Drive hotel-wide service excellence initiatives focused on guest satisfaction and brand loyalty.
- Train and coach leaders and team members on Hilton's Guest Recovery models and service recovery best practices.
- Design and deliver engaging learning experiences that support leadership development and succession planning.
- Conduct training audits and monitor completion of required certifications and compliance programs.
- Track training metrics and analyze results to continuously improve learning effectiveness.
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with company, legal, and brand requirements.
- Support training and development initiatives for management and hourly employees.
- Partner with leadership to identify training needs and support company learning programs.
- Verify that required training is completed for all employees in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Track, maintain, and audit training documentation and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Relentlessly promote and reinforce a culture of service excellence.
Human Resources Generalist Support
- Foster positive employee relations by ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant application of policies and procedures.
- Assist with employee relations, investigations, coaching, corrective action guidance, and policy interpretation.
- Provide guidance and counsel to managers and supervisors on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, career development, and employment law matters.
- Assist department leaders with strategies to reduce turnover and improve employee engagement.
- Administer employee recognition initiatives, milestone celebrations, culture building programs, and charitable activities.
- Promote and support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace in accordance with Hilton’s values and culture and federal/state guidelines.
- Support HR compliance efforts, including required training, policy communication, and documentation management.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain organized, professional, and confidential workspaces.
- Uphold company standards for courtesy, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately and support a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Serve as a coach and mentor to leaders across the hotel.
- Facilitate leadership workshops, departmental trainings, and skill-building sessions.
- Support talent reviews, succession planning, and internal development programs.
- Champion a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
- Administer compensation and benefits programs in alignment with company guidelines.
- Conduct annual wage surveys using market data tools and local benchmarking.
- Support annual wage increases and compensation planning.
- Assist with enrollment, administration, and employee education for all benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA, 401(k), EAP, wellness, and travel assistance programs.
Process bi-weekly payroll and ensure accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain required employment records, postings, and reports.
- Administer workers’ compensation claims and coordinate workplace safety initiatives.
- Manage unemployment claims and related documentation.
- Evaluate and coordinate reasonable accommodation for employees with disabilities.
- Conduct thorough, timely investigations related to employee complaints, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or policy violations.
HR Operations & Administration
- Maintain all employee personnel files and applicant records in accordance with retention requirements.
- Manage HRIS data integrity, reporting, and system updates.
- Provide administrative support to the General Manager as needed, including reporting, scheduling, and organization.
- Support hotel-led employee events and initiatives.
- Track, analyze, and present key HR metrics (turnover, retention, staffing levels, training completion, engagement scores) to property and corporate leadership.
