Additional market responsibilities may include entertainment, social, and SMERF business.

The Sales Manager will generate new business, manage existing accounts, respond to sales inquiries, conduct client appointments and site inspections, prepare proposals and contracts, and coordinate group and meeting requirements with hotel departments and outside vendors.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic sales professional who enjoys prospecting, building client relationships, developing new accounts, and creating a seamless experience from the initial inquiry through the completion of each group stay or event.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, solicit, and develop new group business through prospecting, telephone and email outreach, networking, referrals, outside sales calls, and industry events.
  • Manage group leads from initial inquiry through contracting, servicing, and post-stay follow-up.
  • Support the development and management of corporate accounts and meeting-room business.
  • Develop business from entertainment, social, and SMERF markets—Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal—as assigned.
  • Manage and grow assigned accounts while building strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to group, corporate, and meeting inquiries.
  • Qualify prospective business by determining dates, room requirements, budget, decision-making process, meeting needs, and additional opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals, contracts, resumes, and other sales-related documents.
  • Negotiate rates, concessions, and terms within established hotel guidelines.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and follow up consistently on leads, proposals, tentative bookings, and contracts.
  • Conduct hotel tours and site inspections for prospective and existing clients.
  • Coordinate group room blocks, meeting requirements, audiovisual needs, billing instructions, and special requests.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue through room-type upgrades, extended stays, meeting-room rentals, and other hotel offerings.
  • Work closely with Reservations, Front Office, Revenue Management, Housekeeping, Accounting, and other departments to ensure all client commitments are communicated and fulfilled.
  • Maintain accurate account, activity, booking, and production information in the hotel’s sales and property-management systems.
  • Monitor deposits, rooming lists, cutoff dates, payments, cancellations, attrition requirements, and other contractual deadlines.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and periodic sales and account-production reports.
  • Attend sales meetings, forecast meetings, client functions, networking events, trade shows, conferences, and sales appointments.
  • Monitor market activity, demand generators, group trends, and competitor activity to identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the hotel’s annual Sales and Marketing Plan.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales activity, production, and revenue goals.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.

Skills

  • Previous hotel sales, hospitality sales, account-management, or business-development experience.
  • Group hotel sales experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with corporate, meetings, entertainment, social, or SMERF markets is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect for new business and convert qualified leads into definite bookings.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, and closing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, leads, room blocks, events, and deadlines.
  • Professional, polished, and client-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with hotel sales, property-management, or customer-relationship-management systems.
  • Ability to analyze account production and sales performance.
  • Discretion when working with confidential or high-profile clients.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend events and travel as business needs require.
