General Manager – Opening Leadership for Brand‑New Hotel

We are seeking an accomplished, forward‑thinking General Manager to lead the opening and long‑term success of our brand‑new hotel. This is a rare and high‑impact opportunity to build a property from the ground up—shaping its culture, establishing operational excellence, and creating a guest experience that sets the standard in our market. The ideal candidate is a strategic hospitality leader with strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for developing high‑performing teams.

Opening Leadership Overview

As the General Manager of a new hotel, you will oversee all pre‑opening activities, including staffing, training, operational setup, vendor coordination, brand compliance, and community positioning. Once open, you will serve as the executive leader responsible for financial performance, guest satisfaction, team development, and long‑term strategic growth. This role requires a visionary leader who thrives in dynamic environments and excels at building structure, culture, and momentum from day one.

Key Executive Responsibilities

Pre‑Opening Leadership

  • Lead all pre‑opening planning, including recruitment, onboarding, and training of department leaders and hourly staff.
  • Establish operational procedures, service standards, and departmental workflows.
  • Coordinate with ownership, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the property is fully prepared for opening.
  • Oversee procurement of equipment, supplies, and technology systems.
  • Develop pre‑opening budgets, timelines, and financial forecasts.
  • Build community awareness through strategic outreach, partnerships, and local engagement.

Post‑Opening Operations

  • Provide daily leadership to all hotel departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand standards.
  • Drive financial performance through effective budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and expense control.
  • Build and mentor a high‑performing team through coaching, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
  • Champion an exceptional guest experience through proactive communication, service recovery, and operational consistency.
  • Oversee staffing levels, equipment needs, maintenance priorities, and renovation planning.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers, travel partners, corporate representatives, and community stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and enforce strict compliance with safety, regulatory, and brand standards.
  • Serve as the property’s ambassador—representing the hotel with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Perform additional executive duties as assigned by ownership or senior leadership.

Qualifications & Professional Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum three years of hotel or guest‑service leadership experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience opening a hotel or leading a property of similar size and complexity preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project‑management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence, interpersonal effectiveness, and a positive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
  • Ability to operate independently, make sound decisions, and lead confidently under pressure.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

All candidates must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.
