Job Summary

The cafeteria attendant is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel's cafeteria or breakfast area.

Job Duties

  • Constantly visible in café area during hours of operation to greet and interact with guests  
  • Makes sure that the needs of the guests are met: plates, utensils and glasses are in place; and other customer requests are satisfied. 
  • Other duties such as floor mopping, bathroom cleaning, replenishing of stocks in the service area, etc. that may be performed before, during and after their meal service. 
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for guests.  Remove trash and dishes from public areas.  Mop and vacuum designated areas.
  • Accepts responsibility for multiple tasks without supervision
  • Follows a work schedule, plans ahead, and helps other team members
  • Cleans oven, skillet or other heating equipment in kitchen
  • Takes out trash and washes trash cans
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
  • Learn food preparation, serving, and clean-up procedures
  • Learn sound sanitation principles
  • Learn foods, equipment and techniques used in food preparation, service, and cleanup read, write, and utilize basic math skills
  • Responsible for ensuring visual quality of daily meals 
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanness of overall staff dining area 
  • Responsible for following Tennessee Health Department guidelines, including hot holding, proper labelling and sanitation.   
  • Must Have Tennessee Food Handlers certificate

  • Strong Communication and Networking skills

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in a fast paced, stressful environment
  • Able to stoop, kneel, squat and stand throughout the day
  • Able to lift 15-40 lbs during the day/shift
